Do you return your shopping cart?

Last night at the grocery store I see a lady leave her shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot. The worst part about it is that there was literally 1 spot between her car and the cart corral. I was telling a guy at work this and he mentioned that he read that people who were successful in life return their carts. I looked for this article and nothing I found seems to be based on any data.

I figured that Chiefsplanet could provide some data.

Yes, and if you don't, then we can't be friends. I wish I could slap someone for not doing so. Indicative of laziness and disregard for others.

After parking near or, if the lot is crowded, beyond the shopping cart stall, I grab at least one cart on my way into the store. It's an easy habit to start.

I've noticed that it's mostly fat and white trash people that don't take their carts back.

Here in Phoenix there are several companies that do shopping cart retrieval and repair. I asked the guy one day when I was sitting outside the door fundraising how was business and he said; "I'm so busy it's unbelievable. I retrieve about 60-70 a day and repair about 20-30."

He wouldn't tell me how much he got but I guessed he was making at least $500 -$750 a day with just a box truck and himself and a logo on the side.

Only if it is near me. I do, however, move it out of the way onto one of those raised areas my supermarket has, so it does not get in the way for anyone else. Some parking lots are too big to go all the way back to the cart corral. They have staff that collect them as part of their jobs and staff like to get out from inside to move them, from what one told me.
