Alex and Matt's comparison stats

Post them here

Smith has played in 70 NFL games. Cassel has played in 69. Cassel’s career completion percentage is 59%; Smith’s is 58.

Cassel’s average completion is 6.62 and Smith’s is 6.40. Cassel’s tossed 76 TD’s and 45 picks and Smith’s tossed 68 TD’s and 58 picks.

Cassel enjoys a career QB rating of 82.5 while Smith’s is 76.4. Cassel is 29 years old, Smith is 27.

@benmaller: Chiefs Alex Smith doesn't travel well, Smith has 15-27 (.357) lifetime road record with 33 TD's and 32 INTs in 42 road games.

@benmaller: New Chiefs QB Alex Smith has losing career record on Sunday 30-36-1, yet has .500 or better mark on Monday, Thursday and

"Cassel has 4 300-yard games in 3 years.
Smith has 3 for his whole career."

@Borsilli: Fun stat: As a starter, Alex Smith 2-27 when the opposition scores 24 points or more. #Chiefs gave up 24 points 11 times last season

That same all-world defense got lit up by the Saints. It was Alex Smith passing the ball down the field, making clutch play after clutch play to win that game late for them, not the defense which gave up 500+ yards passing to Drew Brees.

And yet, taking your team all the way down the field, not once but twice, late in the game, making the plays to win the game, is a tremendous accomplishment in the NFL. The Saints defense didn't get this "horrible" reputation until they got torched by Alex Smith. Before then they were considered to be a decent, middle of the road defense.

That wasn't the argument slappy.

I wanted us to draft Geno too but the over the top comparisons of Smith and Cassel are ****ing ridiculous.

One minute CP is all about stats, look at the stats, the next its all about playoff victories.

Now we use stats to discredit playoff wins.

We didn't get what we want, and no we didn't, so now its time to punch holes in the walls and piss on the carpet.

The only hope that you can have when referring to that stat is that Gannon had four 300 yard games pre-Gruden career, and nineteen 300 yard games after he got into the Gruden offense.

Like I said, Alex Smith better be the next Gannon and Reid better be his Gruden for this trade to be anything other than a fail...

I think their main difference is:

Alex is ascending
Matt is descending

LOLOL at the irony of Gannon being the measure of success for a KC Chiefs QB.

In fairness, we should only compare the last 3 years or so--in the NFL, that's certainly most relevant..

From that perspective, Smith looks like an improvement. However, I really do hope they have some competition in mind for him. If not Geno, then someone else legit to push Alex and keep him honest and hard-working. I want to trust Reid and Dorsey on this, but it's really hard. They must not think much of Geno.

Well, it sure would be nice to have the 34th pick to snag Barkley, Wilson, or Manuel.

Now we're stuck in all likelihood with Landry Jones as competition. Hooray.
