- Couches/sofas, shit tier and obvious white trash
- Bedroom furniture, kids only, if you have this in your BR see above
- I feel the accent chairs and sofas are ridiculously overpriced except for a few sale items
- some neat and well designed kitchen and storage items
- takes a minimum of 2 hours to get through, fun the first time, extremely irritating afterwards
- some of cafeteria stuff is pretty good and cheap, but really how good can a $4 meatball plate be
- selection of specific items is fairly limited, if it is new to your town and you buy a bunch of crap there, people will be able to spot it
- I have helped assemble a few items for friends, I will echo the sentiment that they do a good job on design and everything lines up very well
- basically, some cool items but I can spot an IKEA table/sofa/bedroom set from a mile away and it's not a positive thing
-If you live in the same neighborhood as Lohan and Chris Brown and have this in your house you are a pretender, people spot it constantly but probably won't call you out on it but are definitely snickering about it behind your back

The last thing that goes through my mind is "wow, they bought furniture on a budget. **** them!"

Unless they have a really shitty couch, could care less.

My bedroom has been in two modern design magazines and we have..... an IKEA Malm bed. Oh noes! We also have an IKEA light fixture, IKEA shelves, an office desk made out of an IKEA butch block slab, and IKEA Malm dressers.

Ikea shit appears in Dwell spreads all the time. It's not a big deal to have it. Only snobby assholes give a shit. Actual architects and designers who live in the real world usually mix in IKEA with other splurge pieces such as Eames or Jacobsen chairs.

Venture went out of business in the late 1990s. I dont think Western Auto is around anymore either?

I have never been or heard people talk about IKEA. I always thought it was expensive because of the Swedish aspect, the commercials, that KC doesn't have it, and that it has modern styling.

It's sad that KC actually has a lot of stuff I didn't know about, since I haven't lived there in over 10 years. I went up there a few months ago to hang out with my mom and I had no idea what a Crate & Barrel was, or a Trader Joe's. They don't have those down in Tulsa. Trader Joe's is essentially a supermarket with a Trader Joe label on everything? That's what I got.

I went to the IKEA website and it appears they have 5-year warranties on appliances. That's impressive.

They opened one in Denver about a year ago. I went once and quickly realized that I'd probably prefer being stripped naked, oiled up and thrown into an Albanian prison than ever setting foot in one again.
