You should probably rent madden 15 and see the difference. It's impressive.
I gave Madden a shot and bought it.

Little better than the previous version, huh?

I haven't been able to put it down, really. The game isn't nearly as glitchy.

Here's the biggest thing to remember - DO NOT hit R1 to assassinate in missions like this. If you're behind a corner, in a hiding spot or haystack, or hanging from a wall, just hit the square button. This is especially important when you're getting into the fortress at the end of "...And My Sugar" because if you press R1, you will jump onto the wall and get spotted. If you just press square, you can grab guards off of the wall and throw them into the drink several hundred feet below.

Not to scare you but it probably took me 30 minutes or so to finally master that mission. There's one not too long after that is WAY worse and very frustrating.

Fortunately, once you finish it, the game opens up and becomes way more fun and way less stressful.

Think of the first few missions as a really tough initiation to the game - it's not a traditional tutorial but they're forcing you to learn skills you'll need later.
Well, it's growing on me.... got through the BS, even though he outed himself a couple of times by climbing on shit (by just walking up to stuff, not hitting R1).

Haven't left Havana yet, but did some roaming around... getting better at the combat stuff, which is pretty cool, and throwing people off rooftops and assassinating someone by jumping two stories off a building is kind of fun.

Last time I played Madden was '06, I think... a few years ago I picked up NCAA for the first time in about 5 years, and even though they had made some strides with the graphics and animations, the gameplay was exactly the same. As Kansas, I lost to Rice and then turned around and beat #10 Baylor something like 45-41... it's kind of a common theme with EA Sports.

It was great when you could export draft classes out of NCAA and import them into Madden, but I know the college game is done for now.

If it wasn't for NHL 15 coming out tomorrow, I might pick up a used copy to try it out.

I want to say that in NCAA '06, they made it where if you were an inferior team, you would lose... by a lot. I remember getting waxed in some bowl game with my scrub of a team. Then the next year it was back to the same. Run to an easy 13-0 on the all-american difficulty.

Not as glitchy and definitely more smooth. It's still going to take some getting used to. Unfortunately I just can't go without a football game for a year.

I think it was '06 that I played for a couple of years... took me 3 seasons with Kansas to win a NC, then did the same thing with South Carolina, and then went back to Kansas after the CPU screwed up the team. I think the previous year had the LB/OL glitch and Nick Reid had like 80-90 sacks/season by lining up over the DE and having a free lane to the QB.

So, I'm actually glad I got the PS4 when I did. There are a couple of games that I'm going to be picking up in the next couple of months.

Destiny
NHL 15
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Dragon Age: Inquisition

Tomorrow!

If nothing else, the graphics and the new commentary should be a nice upgrade. Hopefully they undid the bouncing puck and offsides crap from '14 and worked on the goalies and gave everyone some situational awareness.

I played EA's until the 2K series took off (2k3 or 4, IIRC), which was a far superior simulation game. Played EA's in '12 for the first time in years and it was much, much better (if you like a simulation game vs arcade).

I've seen teasers that look good, but haven't searched for gameplay videos.

'14 was pretty fun though... had a lot of challenging games, but a lot of ridiculous games, too. They've made huge strides with simulation play, but the arcade roots are definitely still there (and of course that helps sells games to the casual fan who wants to score at least a couple goals per period).
