You wanted Greg Robinson, and this is what you get

Get used to blowing 4th quarter leads with Greg at the helm on D. He's REAL good at it. His 'reactive defense' and isolation philosophy is bullshit, like on the 33 yard throw to Brown that inserted the dagger at the end.

In Denver, the offense could nearly always bail Robinson out. But the Chiefs don't have a good enough offense to cover him up.

You mean the 33 yard reception the pro-bowler Brown had over a CB that hasn't even started more than five games coming off a rookie year?

Robinon's defense was fine, except for a lack of a pass rush. Gannon had all day to throw the ball, especially in the second quarter. I was favorably impressed by the play of our DB's and the defense against the run.

Robinson had a scheme and we played it well in my opinion. The defense was just on the field too much.

Actually I was very impressed with Robinson's defense.

It was the offense that couldn't move the chains that cost us the game. Our defense held the Raiders to an acceptable amount of points considering that our slob center fumbled the ball away twice.

Our offense cost us this game, along with poor special teams play...

My only problem with Robinson is that we stopped blitzing Gannon. When we blitzed, good things happened. We need to continue to bring the heat.

Heh. I don't know how many times in the past six years I've read that very phrase. Kind of amusing reading it here.

I thought we had a good pash rush....

Problem was, once we flushed Noodle-arm out of the pocket or hurried him we either missed or didn't bring him down.

Near misses and amazing escapes. Gannon is slippery.....

Yeah, let's point the finger at the defense...

Our offense stunk today, our defense played very well considering...

Alpha - You hit it on the nose. Gannon and other weak armed QB's must receive blitz after blitz - It worked for the Ravens and will work with any team that put the coverage on the receivers that we did today.

My only real qualm with the D today was that there was too much soft coverage and zones. Sure I think that we should have rushed more (I always think you can rush more), but it was the soft coverage that killed me.

Hader,
hates zone defense

Maybe I'm mistaken, but KC has always had an attacking defense that produced lots of sacks and pressures, even on elusive QBs. Now it's different. It's "wait and then react," which means bad pass rush unless Greg sends the house, leaving the CBs all alone on an island. Like on the 33 yarder, when the best wide receiver on the field is in man coverage (with a safety 10 yards away). Robinson does produce his share of turnovers, but he loses the gamble a bunch.

You all point fingers at the offense, which is my point. Without Denver's high-powered attack, he's weak. And besides, you had a 17-6 lead, then when it really mattered, the raiders scored 21 points. On your D.

Well when Chester starts prolonging crucial drives by giving teams five yards a pop before they snap the ball...maybe we can call it even!

BRONCOSWIN,

Don't forget that we had two costly turnovers by a center who doesn't know his @$$ from a qb....Literally....Two fumbled snaps that gave momentum an points to the Raiders.

If your defense is on the field most of the game they aren't going to play well at the end. We had a green starter at corner and a green Green at qb...

This loss was not Robinson's fault....

bronc - During those drives, three should have ended with "in the grasp" "intentional grounding" calls and time outs after the play clock expired. The D did its job on the whole. There is only so much that can be done with poor officiating.

Don't get me wrong, the officiating sucked on both sides, holding and pass interference was rampant, and the players knew they intimidated the officials. But once more, Robinson did his job on three separate drives, the officiating bit him in the *** on all three.

htisersdoimrtgajxmwlomaqe,

Wow. You're blinding with your smack. Sorry mine is weak to you. I heard on the orangemane that this place was rampant with cheesy homerism, so I checked it out. It's the start of the season, in case you didn't notice. I should have checked the chiefs board manual to see that you have to post before the season starts or it doesn't count. Darn.

The thing about Greg Robinson is, he's okay. But he's not noticeably better than little Schotty was. He's not just what you needed, he's an average coordinator.

I'm just a little disappointed that you guys had the chance to smack the Raiders, our main threat in the division, and gave it away in the end.
