My Wife Got A Visit From The Police Today

So my wife got a visit from the police today while I was at work. The reason? Get this:

OUR NEIGHBORS COMPLAINED THAT WE (I) WAS THROWING SNOW FROM MY SNOWBLOWER ONTO THEIR LAWN!

There is an alley behind our garage, and their house is on the other side of the alley. When I use the snowblower to clear out the alley so we can get the cars in and out of the garage, the only logical place to put the snow is just off to the side of the alleyway, on their lawn. You know, THE SAME PLACE THE CITY'S SNOWPLOW PUTS THE SNOW WHEN IT MAKES ITS PASS DOWN THE ALLEY!

I thought my wife was joking when she told me. It's freaking snow for pete's sake! And why call the police and file a complaint? Why not just come talk to me and ask me if I could put it somewhere else?

Unbelievable.

Rules of snow removal.

1. Blow or push snow into your own yard, onto city property, or into an empty lot.
2. Not put snow in your neighbors yard.
3. If you make a mess in the street clean it up.
ya I have to agree with this. I had to do a shit ton of shoveling after that blizzard, dont have snow blower. You have to respect thy neighbor.

thank god my neighbor is cool as shit.
I was mowing one day in the summer, and he rolled up in his truck; grabbed his recently purchased 30 pack and tossed me 2 beers; said "Hey man, get back inside it's too hot. cool off with these"

Good dude. brings over smoked meats when he smokes etc.

I wonder if it's even their property line, up to the alley.

The alley looks plenty wide, why don't you just leave two feet of snow on the edge of the alley? Couldn't you still fit your car through?

Why don't you just walk over and tell him "Hey, if you don't like me blowing snow on your lawn just come over and ask me to not do it and I'll probably stop. You don't need to call the cops."

It might pay off to build a relationship with this person instead of continuing the standoff. You have to live next to this person so you might as well try to make things smooth.
