Anyone in the Springfield area looking to lose weight, or just get healthy, here's a blog regarding the finale of the program I just got done doing. Be sure to check out the next program starting in August.

During the monthly meetings, I won a two-week fitness evaluation at Thrive Personal Fitness (which I ended up signing up for six months) and a $20 Mama Jean's gift card. At the finale, I won a spa package from Aura Spa here in Springfield.

That’s a wrap! MaMa’s Meltdown melted away over 1,000 pounds

Last night we concluded our initial MaMa’s Meltdown program. The program has been ongoing since January 9, and has provided an outline for over 150 participants to establish a healthy habits, and lose over 1,015 pounds. As the program came to a close, MaMa Jean’s wanted to congratulate the participants that saw the program through to the end, and who embraced that “wellness is more than weight-loss.”

Our finale was held on the roof of our Republic road location, with an amazing spread provided by the MaMa Jean’s kitchen, and music provided by the talented Steve Ames of the Low Down Fancy.

The highlight of the night was awarding the prizes to not only the grand prize winners, but also those who attended every weigh-in and all meetings. MaMa Jean’s was so blessed to have 28 local sponsors who donated over $10,000 in prizes to this program. Without their support this program would not have been the success that it was. We would like to thank Balance Fitness, SoulFit, Thrive Personal Fitness, Advanced Body Sculpture, Sumit Hot Yoga, Ozark Fitness, D-Vine Wellness, Curves, Abba Anderson, Glow Nutrition, Essential Yoga, Dunham Martial Arts, The Nude Foodie, Table Rock Cruises, Aura Face and Body, Ultimate Health Infrared Sauna, Swank Salon, Teach to Inspire Yoga, The wellness Kernel, iBody Directory, 417 Physique, and Anytime Fitness. Thank you all for your donations and sponsorship, along with your support in creating a healthier community.

The most emotional part of the ceremony was the outpouring of gratitude and appreciation that the participants showed. The connections that were created throughout the program really showed the caliber of customer that we have at MaMa Jean’s and we could not be more grateful.

Throughout the program there were participants that went above and beyond and we wanted to assure that those participants were awarded. The grand prize winner was awarded $500 in gift certificates and a free make-over.

We are so grateful to the participant, sponsors, and the community at large for making this program the success that it was. We are pleased to announce that we are planning a second MaMa’s Meltdown, which will start August 18, 2012. This program will be team based, and will be three months in duration. So, I go in to talk to the attorney that I don't normally do much work for (his paralegal is out of the office for a few days), and he stops me to say, "Man, you're starting to get skinny, aren't you?" Another attorney's wife came in a few weeks ago and mentioned that her husband had told her about the wwight I've been losing. Thought that was funny, since he's never said anything to me...lol. My attorney will come in and ask me how the jogging is going. I love this place! I like knowing that people notice. It helps keep me motivated.

Last time I weighed, I was at 40 lbs lost. That's been over a week ago.

Actually, sigs are on. I'm apparently blind. Congrats. That's great. Hopefully you're finding ways to stay active that you really enjoy and you're finding a healthy way of eating that you really like. That's key for keeping it off & being healthy long term. You don't want to struggle with this your entire life.

I love long walks. Jogging when it's not so friggin' hot. Also been playing some co-ed softball, which plays in the spring, summer, and fall leagues. I've got strength training workouts that I do at home and will help during the winter months. Still working on the diet. Not doing any one in particular. I'm just focusing on portion size, lower carb/fat/sodium/sugar, etc. Need to eat more veggies than I do.

I haven't posted here in a while. I was losing 2-3 pounds most weeks but had plateaued for the last couple of months. I was pretty much stuck in the 235-236 range, mostly because I hadn't been as dedicated to my diet. I hadn't really gained any weight back, but was no longer losing any.

I've tried to get refocused this week and have already lost almost 2 lbs. I weighed in at 234.4 this morning which puts me at 30 lbs total.

I'm getting ready to go on vacation for a month, so that can be challenging, but we will be doing quite a bit of hiking. Hopefully that will cancel out any bad eating habits.
