****Official **** You Mike Mayock Thread**** (OP UPDATED)

http://m.nfl.com/news/0ap1000000140130/

The Kansas City Chiefs need a quarterback, but there aren't any this season that look like a top-ten talent, much less a No. 1 overall pick.

The way Mike Mayock sees it, the Chiefs should be looking to the offensive line for their first overall pick. And there are only four players worth the No. 1 overall pick in this draft for Kansas City: Alabama guard Chance Warmack, UNC guard Jonathan Cooper, Texas A&M tackle Luke Joekel, or Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher.

Mayock said on a conference call Monday that some people will say he's crazy to potentially take a guard at No. 1 overall, but Mayock says Warmack is the best player in this draft. So he doesn't see it as crazy at all.

In the end, Mayock believes the pick could come down to Joekel or Warmack. This is a draft where the top-shelf players don't stand apart too much, and there may not be a huge difference between picks 5 and 25. That makes it a tricky spot for the Chiefs.

Don't be surprised if Kansas City builds from the inside out, and finds their quarterback of the future later.

He gives the Chiefs 4 options at #1 and they're all offensive lineman? Go **** yourself bro

@Jacobs71: Here is what Mayock said on #Chiefs pick in full "Well, part of it depends on what they're going to do with free agency and Branden Albert."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I think the answer to that, obviously, is going to give you the answer. Sitting where they are, let's face it, they need a QB."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"We don't know that there are a lot of people who think Geno Smith is in that ballpark."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I don't, but there are a lot of people that think he should be considered."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"When you look at what they're going to do, what are they going to do with Dwayne Bowe?"

@Jacobs71: Mayock:" Whoever the quarterback is, they need a wide receiver. And I think John Dorsey has to be thinking what is the big picture here?"

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I've got one, and I've got 34. What is the best combination of getting the most value out of that?"

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"And I think that offensive lineman at 1 is the most solid guy they can go with."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I don't care whether it's Warmack or Joeckel. People will tell me I'm crazy that a guard can't go No. 1."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I think he's the best player in the draft, so I would argue that."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:" But either way, I think they've got to get an offensive lineman and come back at 33 and prepare to go with a QB or WR."

@Jacobs71: When I asked Mayock about who fits Reid's system at QB: " I think Matt Barkley makes a lot of sense."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:" He's a guy as a junior at USC looked so much different than he did this year."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"With Landry Jones and Tyler Wilson, I think all three of those guys you have to go back and watch junior tape. "

@Jacobs71: Mayock:" So I think Barkley fits what he does. I think Ryan Nassib fits what he does."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I think Landry Jones and Tyler Wilson both can fit what he does."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"So of those, that group of guys of the top seven, eight quarterbacks, I think those are the guys that did it most efficiently."

You're trolling.

Or your stupid.

Take your pick.
Ok, so as far as I'm concerned you're a fair weather fan. Not the same FWF that rides every favorite in sight, maybe, but a FWF nonetheless. Sorry if it hurts.

Of course, I reserve the right to reclassify you if you fail to follow through.

P.S. It's "you're stupid".

How can a fan of 30 years be one draft pick away from not being a fan anymore? Despite the first good coach in 8 years. I'd think if your fandom were that tenuous, you'd have given up long ago, maybe in the 80s
What were you saying in the 80s? Were you saying I'll give them one more chance, but that's it?

Yeah, sure it is.

Look, I know it was a simple typo and it's the kind of thing that all of us do from time to time, but when you call someone stupid, you should really double check your spelling.

Clearly he was saying "they've got 30 years to get this right or I'm out!"

I was a kid/teenager in the 80's. After flirting with being a Steeler fan, I finally found MY team. And by the time I had a chance to really formulate my fandom, Marty came in, brought Okoye in, and the rest is history.

And do you honestly think ONE draft pick is the reason?

This draft pick isn't the catalyst, it's the straw that broke the camel's back.

This sentiment has been building for YEARS. I was ready to quit when Vermeil let the Eagles overcome an insurmountable halftime lead and beat us. I was ready to quit when they hired Herm.

The problem is that I CAN'T quit. I'm too emotionally invested in this team to just give up 30 years of fandom. I'm far from a fairweather fan, regardless of what Dipshit DC says.

Ah, so you've always been a fan with one foot out the door. I'm not judging, just you came at it differently than I did. It's been a generational thing for me. My father was a Chiefs fa, he was at Super Bowl I, I've just always been a Chiefs fan, and will always be. It's just kind of who I and my family have always been.

Most people aren't gonna stop being fans over a draft pick.

But if Reid and Dorsey are ***** and Haley part 2, and this franchise doesn't get back to winning ways...you might see a whole lot of apathy about the Chiefs.

If they're here for 4 years and we don't have a winning season....that would be 10 years with one winning season.

That's rough.

And that point the players fans like right now are gonna be all but gone.

The next two drafts are absolutely critical for this team.

Thing is, I'm actually a fan of teams who legitimately try and win and basically do all they can to do that.

The Chiefs, over my lifetime haven't consistently done that.

Well, it is one draft pick if you decide, they take a player, you stay, they don't, you go.

It's what this pick stands for.

For years we've always had an excuse not to put priority on the QB.

My Dad doesn't have an NFL team. If anything, I've turned him into a Chiefs fan rather than the other way around. Most of my extended family roots for the Bears, except for my cousins that live in KC and root for the Chiefs (they weren't raised Chief fans either, just became fans when they moved there).

I don't think it's fair to say I've ALWAYS had one foot out the door. I was as die-hard as they come in the 1990's, but became extremely disillusioned when Carl hired Gunther.

It's been one big mistake after another ever since, so that's really on the team, not on me.

Again, it's not take a specific player.

It's take that POSITION.
