Hunt-Dorsey-Reid vs Johnson-Idzik-Ryan

It's on.

It seems the two franchises have different philosophies on acquiring QBs.

There is history. We have the present. The future is currently an ongoing thing. Hyperbolics work their way in naturally.

I don't know what to think. I'm too stupid and lazy to figure it out for myself. I want someone to straighten me out, tell me what to think.

Thanks in advance,
Dinny

It's a fair point though. I'm not a fan of the qbs the jets have brought in but at least they've tried.
That's my biggest complaint about KC and drafting QB, they don't even try. Living in Nashville for the past 10 years I have seen the Titans draft two QB's in the first round.

Young flammed out and the jury is still out on Locker but at least they tried to address the QB position via the draft. KC tried once, 30 years ago, and have never tried since.

Of course I have high hopes for Bray.

Yeah, but in fairness it's only been one year and maybe they just didn't like the options. The way I see it, right now the Chiefs and jets both have very talented qbs with attitude issues. So Itthink strangely we maybe netted out okay. I am actuallypaying more aattention to EJ Manuel.

I don't like the Idzik hire.

To me, he's the Herk Robinson of the NFL and we all know how that turned out.

This has already been brought up on the Draft Planet months ago.

And it's not just with the QB situation, but the entire new regime's thought process on building/revamping the franchise in a single off season.

The Jets and Chiefs both brought in new GM's for the 2013 season.

The Chiefs and Jets both brought in new players for the same key positions:

QB, CB, DE, OT

The Chiefs did this primarily through free agency with Alex Smith, Sean Smith, Mike DeVito and draft pick Eric Fisher.

The Jets did this primarily through the draft with Geno Smith, Dee Milliner, Sheldon Richardson and Oday Aboushi.

And with regards to the observation that the Jet's "tried" in terms of using a first round pick on a QB (Sanchez), the problem with that is that they used a first round pick on a QB, tied up huge amounts of money in said draft pick due to the position, gave him a contract that is one of the worst in football and he ended up being one of the three worst starting QB's in the league for the last three years.

That's got getting an "A" for effort, that's getting a complete and utter F- for execution.

Then, because of the waste of a first round pick on a guy who is one of the worst at his position in the entire league (Sanchez), they have to start signing/drafting other guys at the same position, which subsequently creates the dreaded "QB controversy" and obligatory media circus, e.g., Tim Tebow, Geno Smith, et al.

And the thing here is that with a rookie, you really never know how that shit is going to pan out. Remember Ryan Leaf vs. Peyton Manning? The league was split 50/50 on who was the better QB.

What Reid/Dorsey have done was go get guys who have actually performed at a high level who are still in their prime/entering their prime versus rely on the "potential" or "possibility" that a rookie is actually going to pan out.

When we hired Pioli, the Jets and Chiefs did the same thing - with the Chiefs picking veteran Matt Cassel and the Jets spending a first round pick on Mark Sanchez. That comparison was a wash.

We'll see how this latest Chiefs versus Jets situation ends up, but for now, both A. Smith and G. Smith and their teams are 1-0.

the Jets went to to 2 AFC championship games and won numerous playoff games along the way including an epic take down of the Pats on the road...

any suggestion they made a mistake is ignorant and laughable, especially in comparison to the Chiefs...aside from extending our decades long streak of not winning a playoff game, we only 'achieved' one of the most embarrassing and complete playoff beat downs in recent memory in which our Vet QB Win Now Leader shit his panties on national tv

now they have another young QB to develop...we have the same old shit, a @winnow QB that not even the most idiotic True Fan supporters think is anything but a temp bridge to somewhere...and translated, 'bridge' means another ****ing waste of time...

pretty easily puts the lie to the True Fan chestnut that drafting a first round QB who isn't Peyton Manning destroys your franchise for 100 years...

He was a rare-ish situation of a traded player with multiple years left on his contract, so there's no financial reason to extend him at this point, since they already own him for 2014 (usually traded guys are on their final year or tagged).

As far as being not being named the franchise QB...do you really think he isn't, that they don't see him that way?

The Jags are actually a pretty good team but the Chiefs are now so dominant it was hard to tell. I don't expect Dallas to cross the 50 yard line more than twice this sunday.
