This has happened less often than a team drafting and developing their own.

Step out of your ****ing time machine and stop pointing the finger at everyone else, Boss... you made just as many excuses for Smith as anyone else no doubt about it. Its cool that you're seeing the light, but dont try to retroactively cover your tracks. |

I lead the charge to trade up to draft Tannehill even though the guy had to knowledge of pro personnel. Check the records. I'd love to see him under Reid. That combination would be sick even though Daboll would have set his development back. I really liked Russel Wilson, but admittedly didn't want him in the first. I was a big Foles fan and pimped him as a first rounder prior to his final year in college where he had a big year playing from behind in a lot of games his defense folded. I called him the next Trent Green and I still think that's accurate. I wanted us to draft Aaron Rodgers (even though he was a tedford guy) over DJ because I understand how important quarterbacks are and how important age is in relevance to the position. |

9-0 7-3 with a win over the Champs. Those kinds of numbers can fool a lot of people, like myself and many others... and YOU... but when you're winning its easy to overlook the shit, just saying extend that fair point to everyone else. |

Taking a QB just to take one in the first round is just as stupid as drafting a Dee Ford that would get limited playing time. People pound their chests here and want QB's drafted in the first, like that is magically going to turn this franchise around.
First of all, KC usually was never in position to get a first round QB that was highly touted. Rodgers is the only guy that I know of that we could have had a chance to get and just didn't. Oh, and I loved the implication there by Boss that Tom Brady was a "miss" by the Kansas City Chiefs, as if he was some hot commodity that was known to have HOF potential. Nice ****ing try, now go play a little game of hide and go fist yourself. Nobody knew about Brady, and likely had the Chiefs drafted Brady, it would have been met with a bunch of this bullshit because as we all know, CP knows all. Now, say that they were in a position in the first round to get a QB. Doesn't mean shit. Look at this shitpile of first round QBs to not do a Goddamn thing for the team that drafted them. 1. Todd Blackledge. The proof for all Chiefs fans that just drafting a QB in the first doesn't guarantee shit. 2. Ryan Leaf. No commentary needed. 3. Jason Campbell 25th pick 2005. How many teams has this dude played for now? 4. Matt Leinart. 10th pick 2006. Not even in the league anymore. 5. Rex Grossman. 22nd pick 2003. Known more for interceptions than anything else. 6. Byron Leftwich. 7th pick 2003. Did nothing. Went on to become a backup in Pittsburgh and got himself a superbowl ring holding a clipboard behind Big Ben in 2008. 7. Patrick Ramsey. Pick 32, 2002. A reach, and a fail. The ol KC special. 8. Chad Pennington. Pick 18, 2000. A noodle armed China Doll. 9. Brady Quinn. 22nd pick 2007. We eventually ended up with this guy, then cut him loose. 10. Kyle Boller. 19th pick, 2003. Cannon arm, 10 cent brain, china doll body. Career backup. 11. Jeff George. 1st pick, 1990. Lol. Jeff George. Whitlock says he could still get it done for KC. 12. JP Losman. 22nd pick 2004. His last name says it all. 13. Vince Young. 3rd pick, 2006. Great athlete, complete dumbass when it comes to reading defenses, and whiny bitch to boot. Owner's Choice. Bud Adams saddled Jeff Fisher with this clown. 14. David Carr. Pick 1, 2002. A pass rusher's dream QB. Got sacked an NFL record number of times, and never found success with any other team he played for. 15. Joey Harrington. Pick 3, 2002. This guy is a chef now. 16. Tim Couch. Pick 1, 1999. Amounted to nothing. Saw 1 playoff appearance in a partial season played. Out of football by 2007. 17. Cade McNown. Pick 12, 1999. Out of football after four years. Terrible player on the field, bigger douchebag off of it. Failed at two other teams after screwing the Bears. 18. Akili Smith, Pick 3, 1999. Couldn't get his head around the pro game. 19. Rick Mirer, Pick 2, 1993. Nice rookie season, apparently beginners luck. 63.5 career QBR. 20. Heath Shuler, pick 3, 1994. Terrible QB, went on to be replaced by Gus Frerotte and became a politician. 21. Jamarcus (Jafatass) Russell. 1st pick 2007. Terrible QB that ballooned in to a grossly overweight sideshow. 22. Alex Smith. Taken number 1, career game manager who now plays for our Chiefs and wont throw passes past the first down sticks. The list goes on. I mean you can dig as far back to the 70's if you like to find QBs taken in the first round that did nothing close to what that high selection is expected to do. To get one of these guys, a considerable amount of good fortune is needed. You have to have either the shit record to be in position to get a guy, or have a shit-ton of ammo to trade up (didn't work out so great for Washington with RG3), and then you have to hope that the guy is as good in the pro game as he was in college. Just taking a QB for the sake of breaking a stretch of 3 decades where we haven't taken one isnt going to magically pay off. Teams draft QBs in the first all the time and get nowhere.
