this is what happens when you're a thug and constantly hang around this kinda shit. Not to mention he went to the U, where everything is legal if you're a football player. Hope he recovers though.

No, but Taylor has had a history of being in that type of gang violence environment with the weapon charges and shootings etc. Eventually you hang around that shit too long and it'll get yourself critically injured or possibly killed.

You have absolutely no idea what happened regarding the circumstances of the incident. How about you wait for information to come out before you go on your little thug rant?

It may turn out that he's a completely innocent random victim, but you have to admit: when you read that a Redskin got shot, who did you think was most likely to be the guy? Jon Jansen? Jason Campbell? When I read the headline that said, "Redskins Star in Critical Condition After Shooting" my immediate assumption was that it was Sean Taylor.

Mine was Clinton Portis, but Sean Taylor would have been my second guess, for no other reason than the "crowd" they hang with and the choices they've made in the past.

I didn't hear "a Redskin got shot". I heard "Sean Taylor got shot during a home invasion". There's no information at the present time to indicate he's anything other than a victim, so he should be treated as such until more stuff comes to light.

He brandished a gun at and punched a guy he thought had stolen vehicles from him. That's a dumb move, to be sure, but it's hardly a "gang violence environment" that the guy's been "hanging around."

But hey, he's black and he went to Miami. He's obviously a thug who's somehow responsible for this. There HAS to be more to the story, because burglaries never end with the homeowner being shot and the perpetrator fleeing.

Sorry, but in cases where a guy's either dying or severely ****ed up, regardless, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt until something comes up to disprove that line of thinking.

Interesting how angry white planeteers have completely different points of view depending on the color of the principals.

My prayers and thoughts to Sean Taylor, and his family. ... I didn't know that Taylor's father is the chief of the Florida City Police Dept.

Quote:
Mr. Taylor grew up in Florida and lives primarily in a sprawling, one-story house in Palmetto Bay, an affluent suburb south of Miami. His father, Pedro W. Taylor, is the chief of the Florida City Police Department, a municipality in southern Miami-Dade County about 15 miles southwest of Mr. Taylor’s home.

This afternoon, Miami-Dade police investigators were combing for evidence in the yard and driveway of Mr. Taylor’s pale yellow-colored house, which sat behind a six-foot white wall on a main road that runs past some of southern Miami-Dade County’s grandest estates. NYT

Quote:
Investigators may be investigating whether there is any relation between these break-ins and a dispute two years ago between Mr. Taylor and some men in West Perrine, a depressed neighborhood near his current home.

In June 2005, Mr. Taylor was arrested and charged with felony assault and battery after the authorities said he pointed a gun at three men outside a house in West Perrine and accused them of stealing two all-terrain vehicles from him.

Witnesses told the police that Mr. Taylor, accompanied by an entourage, assaulted one of the men and made death threats before driving off. Minutes later, a group of men drove by his parked GMC Yukon Denali and opened fire, leaving the truck riddled with bullets. Mr. Taylor’s vehicle was empty at the time, and the gunmen were never identified or arrested. NYT

I'm a little leery about posting this information. It requires more than one source. ... if it's not true, they run the risk of losing credibility and I'll be pi$$ed.

Not sure how you jumped to the racist remark. My comments and those of others are based purely on his history, and I've already mentioned that if it was someone like Chris Samuels or Ladell Betts, both of whom are also black, by the way, I'd be inclined to believe the "random shooting intruder" story.

But come on. Seriously, how many burglaries involve the burglars kicking down doors and shooting the homeowner? (See story in Post 66.) That is not the modus operendi of run-of-the-mill burglars, of whom 99.99 percent will run at the first sign of trouble, and it's not like those guys were cornered or anything. It's exceedingly rare for someone to randomly break into a house and start shooting at a random homeowner on an offensive basis.

If he is an innocent victim, it would be more likely to be a kidnapping attempt or something, but who wants to kidnap a nasty and aggressive strong safety?

Nah. I'll play the odds here. I'll be really surprised if he doesn't know why it happened. He'll probably never tell, but I'll bet he knows.

This has nothing to do with being black.

Miami players always have problems off the field. Someone got shot a year ago. I guess it was just by accident right?

Christ man the list can go on and on. Players go down there and party their asses off on south beach, hang with the wrong people. Do drugs etc you name it.

Remember the 7th Floor Crew??? Just by accident I guess.

All Im saying is that Taylor has been subjected to bad behavior in the past. Now I dont know the facts and you are right, but you could say it's a pretty good educated guess that something was connected to a previous altercation.

It's like when Darrent Williams got shot. Or Pac Man Jones. These guys put themselves in awful positions and people act like it's a tragedy when bad things happen.
