All I am saying is that even with his very poor performance yesterday, Jeremy Guthrie is not the problem of this team. |

So what? The worst that can happen is that Gio and Valencia strike out as often as Moose does. Who cares? Moose is hitting below .150, and not even having to face left handed pitching. I'll bet Gio and Valencia can hit at least .200 against right handers.

Yes, yes he is. He now leads MLB in gopher balls with 11 in only 50 innings. 10 to LH hitters, who are just feasting on his weak sauce. He is throwing way too many pitches in the strike zone, Monty commented on this a few weeks ago. Guthrie has a 5.80 FIP right now and what's scary is his BABIP is only .256 so when that normalizes his actual ERA (4.80) is sure to rise to his FIP.

1) He is 1-15 vs LH (.083) and 15-106 vs RH (.155). So he cannot even hit RH. 2) He only has 15 AB vs LH this year. The Royals have already made him a strict platoon player without formally announcing it. They know the truth even if they're not saying it. 3) With 3 ball counts, which are major hitter counts, here's his breakdown: 3-0 (1-5) 4) On 2-0 counts he's 4-19 (.211) with 1 HR. So even in the prime hitting count where fastballs come, he can't even get hits! |
