****Official UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman Thread****

Unfortunately, I won't be doing pbp (for the few that enjoy it). I think this is a decent card but only worth buying because of Anderson. If you can, check out Edwin Barboza on the prelims.

Why does he have to be a prime Silva? An aging Silva was still clowning guys to KO's in 2 rounds.

So glad that arrogant SOB's antics finally caught up with him and too many of those brazilians are the exact same way, cocky to beat hell.

And now their king has been knocked slackjawed cold... ha. ha. ha.

And Weidman is better than all of those guys right now to. And the operative word you used is "was". Weidman might win 3-4 out of 10 times right now against Silva and with each passing day Silva declines while Weidman gets better. It's just the way things go. Liddell was kicking everybody's ass and than fell off a cliff, Wanderlai was the same way, Cro Cop, etc...

I don't expect Weidman to have a JJ, Silva, or GSP type or reign. I see him being more like Velasquez. Probably the best in the division, but not so great to where he is a physical mis match for every opponent he faces.

So if Weidman is better than the guy who was better than everyone else should he not be better than everyone else?

Who is going to challenge Weidman?

Currently, yes. But things aren't always static. Guys change classes, guys get better, new guys appear on the scene, some a guy can have a bad night and lose. He was the #1 contender going in. Not some guy off the street.

I think Silva gets the rematch right away. If he doesn't than Belfort is probably first up for a title shot I would think.

I'm not asking who is going to fight him next. Who is going to challenge him?

Belfort will be a stiff challenge. Only 2 losses since 06 and those were to 2 JJ and AS. He's a very well rounded and experienced fighter that has looked good against pretty good competition in his last 2 fights.

I agree. Additionally, if Lyoto and/or Gegard decide to drop that weight gets much better.

So did Machida basically say thanks, but I'll pass on the title shot with Jones that he earned with the win over Hendo? I know there some issues early regarding needing more time to train.

Essentially. He felt rushed for his first fight.

Meh, I don't know. It sounds a little like a cop out, especially since they never got it done after Bones/Sonnen. Those guy had to get Bones while he was still young and somewhat inexperienced if they were going to have a chance. The dude is just now 25 years old, beaten the best and getting better. Might end up being the GOAT.

I still can't believe Jones did not tap to that armbar against Belfort. Vitor is the real deal (on gas to the max, but still the real deal).

I think Weidman beats him, though.
