Alex Smith expresses his desire to return to Chiefs in 2018

GO AWAY YOU ****ING LOSER. LEAVE NOW AND NEVER COME BACK.

Alex Smith expresses his desire to return to Chiefs in 2018

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs' season ended earlier than they anticipated.

The No. 4 seed in the AFC coughed up an 18-point lead in a 22-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Saturday, setting up an offseason of uncertainty.

Chief among that will be quarterback Alex Smith.

Despite leading Kansas City to a 10-6 record and AFC West title, the Chiefs are said to be open to trading the veteran pivot. The team set up its future by trading up in April's draft to select quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Smith has just one year left on his four-year, $68-million contract, and intends to see it through.

"Yeah, I mean, you kidding me? I signed the contract," Smith said when asked after the game if he'd like to stay in Kansas City
, according to Nick Shook of NFL.com.

"I'm under contract for another year, so like I said, I'm not thinking about anything else. Right now, obviously disappointed. Like I said, I felt like we had a good chance, and it's gone."

Under Smith's direction, the Chiefs raced out to a 5-0 start to the season, hit a lull in which they lost six of their next seven games, then won their final four contests.

On Saturday, Smith threw two first-half touchdowns to give Kansas City a 21-3 cushion, but went 5 of 10 for 33 yards in the second half.

The 13-year veteran wasn't prepared to dive further into his future so soon after the loss.

"The game just ended," Smith said. "We'll get into all of that in the next couple of weeks."

I don’t understand why anyone, whether you’re a fan of Smith’s or not, would want him back. It’s been five years. Five ****ing years and not a damn thing to show for his time here except for Brian Hoyer. Wanting him back is the definition of insanity.

I never thought Alex is or was the answer. But it's games like this that make you wonder if anything gets fixed with a different qb. This looked like bad coaching to me. And way too many dropped passes. In a weird way, this looks like a perfect ending to the Alex Smith era to me. He didn't look bad in the loss and you can blame the thing on Andy Reid. Better draft picks. Thanks for all you've done for kc. I'm not going to pin this loss on Alex. But for some reason I'm numb to the loss because I think the worse long term scenario would have been Alex Smith giving us just enough fools gold to justify keeping him another year.

Dick vermeil was a wasted era. But it's days like today when I miss it. I don't know if mahomes is going to win or lead us to more of the same "just good enough" failure. But at least I'll have fun watching the show. Alex Smith is like eating a bowl of bland bran cereal only to realize it's not even good for you. Nobody enjoys watching this football. The only reason we watch is because we think this boring football can win games in uncomfortable fashion, and we can't even do that ****ing right. I can't wait to move on. If we're going to lose I want to at least enjoy the show. Sadly, that's where I'm at as a chiefs fan right now.

If you are selling a car, you need to say nice things about the car. Tell people why the car is desired and why it's a good car. You don't tell them the car is a piece of shit and you just want it off the lot.

Yes things get fixed with a different Quarterback. Last week Patrick Mahomes II did more with less talent around him. He played with backups and beat a team playing their starters. Yes Patrick Mahomes II can make a difference.

I agree. This offseason is going to be brutal until Alex. Smith is traded. We're going to hear so much polite praise for the guy to maintain his trade value.

Going on Twitter today, the mood was different. Last week it was Alex Smith this, Alex Smith that. Today it seems like people are coming to their senses. Sadly, it was a loss like this that forced people to come to their senses. I agree. Mahomes is a risk but at least there's a ceiling. All Alex Smith had was a floor.

Yes people on Facebook were bitching about people like me wanting trade Alex Smith but now it's not an argument. Funny.
