Maybe Dee Ford isn't a bust?

7.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 forced holding calls in 12 starts since Houston got hurt. Not bad #'s from a complimentary rusher, though he does need to be more consistent throughout the game.

I'd still take Carr even after today, but I think the bust label might be too strong for the kid at this point.

Derek Carr had only been sacked 5 times in their 5 games. Ford sacked him twice yesterday.

Not to mention that it was on a wet field which negated the ability of pass rushers to get traction. I didn't expect us to get to Carr at all yesterday.

Another thing to note is that Dee Ford got quick pressure on Carr that made him scramble out to the right where Allen Bailey was in his face with even more pressure to force the interception.

I'm all for being optimistic, but this seems a little soon. There are countless mediocre players who had one good week before promptly going back to sucking. Lets see how he plays over the rest of the season before we rush to judgement in either direction. He is going to have plenty more playing time, at least until Houston returns.

Only if Sutton moves Ford back to his proper position when Houston comes back.

Ford and Hali can split reps

Hali needs the rest

Meh, I loved Ford in college but he still has a lot of growing up to do.
This is a little premature. Let's try week 16.

Fords sacks were coverage sacks due to the fact that we switched to a zone D in the second half.
http://www.silverandblackpride.com/2...lf-adjustments

Im baffled as to why we dont run like 30 % zone and 70 % man, we basically run 95 + % man

My guess is that Andy forced Sutton to install a zone D for this week and hopefully the rest of the season.

The corners we have now are not press-man only type guys like Sean Smith, and Derrick Johnson particularly plays at a pro-bowl level in a zone

This was a big problem last year, but so far that's not the case.

He's got a sack (or combined sack) in 3/5 games. He's actually showing consistency by making plays in several games and his run defense has not been a problem.

This is the guy we didn't think would show up. Let's hope he keeps it up.

I don't see anything in that article taht says they played "zone" defense on the backend? The Chiefs play their fair share of zone coverage, so I don't know why that would be different?

He collapsed the pocket and got Carr moving for the Peter's INT. I thought he had a good game. He's our best pass rusher at the moment.
