Chiefs Vs Saints grades...

OFFENSE: D
Blaylock had a career day. The O had a good drive to start the game, but then pulled an all-too-familiar vanishing act for most of the game. Turnovers and penalties erased a great performance by the RB. Bear in mind that this was against the worst Defense in the NFL. The fiasco in the red zone was particularly miserable. In another all-too-familiar performance, the Offense were pathetic when the critical moment arrived. When the game was on the line, they choked again.

DEFENSE: D
They started off well, harassing Brooks relentlessly. Then the Saints’ passing game got on track and they looked completely lost. Gave up way too many big plays on the blitz. LBs and the secondary played poorly, missing assignments time after time. One of the goals in football is to render The Enemy 1-dimensional. That plan does not seem to work for the Chiefs. 1-dimensional teams still pass at will against us. To be fair, the Saints’ have real weapons on Offense and the Chiefs Offense went AWOL early, but the Defense allowed the same plays to succeed too many times.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B-
Good coverage against the best return man in the NFL. Hall had a couple of nice returns and several punts & kickoffs were handled without holding penalties. Tynes kickoffs are not as consistently deep as I would like, but both he and Cheek got some good hang time and the players stayed in their lanes and contained Lewis.

COACHING: F
Undisciplined, disjointed, clueless players all over the field points to a coaching failure, IMO. Vermeil was raging on the sidelines, but was unable to get control of the team. The team played worse after halftime than they did before the break. The word “imploded” is thrown around like party favors on the Planet, but the Chiefs suffered a major implosion yesterday. Failure on such a broad front indicates the coaches are not doing the job.

Good to see you are finally starting to see the Chiefs for what they really are...Abyssmal failures.

In Tynes defense, he was kicking in to the wind the entire game.

A data point rather than a trend...

Yesterday certainly was a dismal failure.

I have high hopes for the remaining games.

I'll be watching every game and will continue to pull for the Chiefs, however, I don't share in your optimism. When the lowly Bucs, Panthers, and Saints have their way with you, then the hard, cold facts of reality set in for me and think only a miracle could help us at that point.

Looking for divine-intervention.

BigChiefFan-

I don't do “disinterested apathy.”

It is a character flaw, I know, but I am a victim of my genes.

On the bright side, if you have to lose 6 games in a season, losing 3 of them to NFC opponents and going 5-1 in your own division are the way to do it. At 10-6 this team will have a great shot at the playoffs. Of course, getting there might be a problem, but I'm here to provide vision. I'll leave the detail work to the rest of you.
