Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.


Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?



Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

That's good, but the article gets it right when they call it a tactical retreat. They'll try to slip it in when there is some other big scandal going on so it doesn't get as much attention. That's what this administration does.

That guy is an attention whore, and is doing more harm than good. Walking around hoping the cops will stop him, just so he can make a scene and berate the cops. I support gun ownership to the fullest. But that joker is dumb.

The cops made mistakes in this video no doubt, but you are spot on. This guy was looking for trouble. Who carries a rifle down the street?

TL/DR Sometimes nut jobs serve a purpose.

This used to be the stance I had, until a local deal opened my mind a little. The local government had declared an area unhuntable even though they didn't appear to have the right to do so. Most people said whatever and moved on as it wasn't worth the hassle. It took one of these crazies, who didn't even hunt, going in there and challenging their bluff before someone up the chain was forced to correct the situation. I don't carry openly or concealed, but while he was in town he challenged a "zone" that had been a part of a heated argument several years ago between the Mayor and a pawn shop owner who openly carried every day. The shop owner bowed out of the situation when the city suddenly became unfriendly to his business so life went on until nut job showed up. Turns out the crazy guy was right on both cases and it took someone being an ass clown to get it figured out.

I'm not anti cop as I wouldn't want their job and generally don't think they get paid enough, but not too long ago that crazy man who ran around Missouri scamming churches for gas money and harassing police departments with video cameras came to a near by small town for a week or so. The dude appeared to be clinically insane, but in the few short days he was in town he exposed some wrong in the sheriff's department that had been swept under the small town rug and some positive changes were made after he left. I sure as hell wouldn't have ever done anything close to what it took to get it exposed, but his dumb ass was happy to do it.

Is it legal to openly carry down that sidewalk? Who knows. I don't think this guy was sure about it either as it seems like he turned around and chose to berate the cops instead of putting his foot in the water, but how will the general public know the truth if the extremes, from either side, of a given situation aren't there to test the waters for us sane individuals who have too much to risk in even arguing about it. I'd rather the nut job with nothing to lose sacrifice himself instead of Regular Joe who just happened to be carrying concealed on that particular sidewalk because he assumed it was legal. Using a rifle on his back was actually a much safer move for all involved than him using a pistol on his side.

I always get a kick out of the youtube videos that a guy records who's just "exercising his rights" by strapping rifles around their chest and walking around in public acting like they shouldnt be harassed by the police when random concerned citizens call in about some dude with a rifle.

The general public can find the truth about carry laws without needing extremist nuts berating cops for fun. All that does is create unnecessary grief between law enforcement and gun owners. Not to mention giving the general public the notion that gun owners are represented by clowns like this guy.

It was perfectly legal to walk down that sidewalk and open carry. He knew it and the cops knew it. But when that guy starts making a scene and berating cops, that right gets trumped by causing a disturbance and the cops get to legally haul the person away anyway. And that's the entire problem. The focus of his act wasn't about open carry, it was challenging law enforcement with the right he already knew he had. The cops acknowledged that he was legal several times, even saying "If it weren't legal you'd be under arrest right now." And look at what happened when he finally got to confront the sergeant at the end. What was so important that he filmed himself for 15 minutes confronting officers? He asked them why they were following him and if they knew the constitution. That was it. Nothing but attention whoring and hostility. He had a pretty hard time controlling his emotions, and that's just bad all around. There's smart ways to open carry to ease public apprehension about guns. And that wasn't it.

I absolutely agree in principle with your post. That being said, the guy who made this video was an assclown about it. You can open carry in almost any town in America (not in NY City, for example). The police in this video were responding to another citizen's call about some guy walking around with a rifle. So, it is the other idiot citizen in this town that cause the police to confront this guy walking around with a rifle.

So, the police do their job, thus responding to one citizen's concerns, and now they are confronted by another assclown citizen trying to make a point. So, in essence, the police are in a no-win situation. If they do nothing, the people who called in their concerns aren't happy. If they try and confront the guy, he gets all uppity trying to prove a point.

All this said, the point this guy is trying to make could have been done in a much better way. When he was close to any of the police officers, all he had to do is say, "hello officer, I'm just exercising my constitutional right to open carry, and that's all I'm doing, thank you for your concern but I assure you, I'm not a danger to anyone, nor myself." I'm betting, at that time, the police probably would have just drove away. But instead, he avoids communicating with the police and then he instigates a verbal confrontation.

Not good. Does not help gun owner's cause at all.

I just put a Hungarian model on layaway, all black, folding metal stock... its beautiful. Hemmed and Hawed between AR and AK for atleast a year... but the reliability in the worst of conditions and stopping power finally sold me on AK.

I'll sacrifice some accuracy and distance for raw power and reliability.
