I was definitely in on that Donte Whitner hype train. I have so many holes I just can't afford to spend so much on one guy.

... Unless that guy is Jordan Cameron.

Just took a look at the upcoming free agents that will hit the pool. There's some decent talent there. Not many superstars but some solid starters and role players.

*cough* Joseph Fauria, Julius Thomas and Fred Davis will be available *cough* leave Jordan Cameron alone *cough*

I'm assuming DE4 and DE3 signify whether an end plays in the 4-3 or 3-4?

DT and NT, MLB and ILB, and WLB/SLB and OLB do the same for those positions?

There is some where that it tells you the positions for each defense. Maybe in the lineup page.

Yes.

I think DT and NT are treated equivalently as are MLB and ILB. In other words you can play these players without a penalty associated with the front you are in.

But yes, WLB/SLB are 4-3 outside linebackers and OLB are 3-4 outside linebackers.

FWIW, it wasn't obvious to me that superstars performed a lot better than solid starters in the sim. I'm sure they enjoy some benefit due to their generally superior stats, but I had a team largely filled with solid starters or below and I was competitive. My best RB, for example, was Robert Turbin. And aside from Santonio Holmes, who only played in about 4 games, my WRs were led by the likes of Kevin Walter and T.Y. Hilton.

You can check the 2012 stats under the stats menu. I just looked at rushing stats and there were some superstars at the top, but BenJarvus Green-Ellis was 7th and Bilal Powell was 10th in rushing yardage. Kendall Wright led all receivers in yardage and TE Greg Olsen came in 9th. Andy Dalton led the league in passing yardage and Sam Bradford tied for the league lead with Aaron Rodgers in passing TDs.

That's good to know, since 4-3 DTs often play DE3 in the 3-4. I might need to rethink my defensive philosophy, which is fine.

Ok, perfect. That is some great knowledge in these posts right here.

I actually thought there was a very minor penalty for moving 3-4 players to their corresponding 4-3 positions and vice versa. But not a huge deal.

Whoops, you are correct.

We do have slight penalties for

NT playing 4-3 DT and viceversa
MLB playing 3-4 ILB and viceversa

If we're gonna be penalized, I hope my LB's positions' get updated before the season.

Jameel McClain has been with the Ravens his entire career & they've run the 3-4 for as long as I remember. He's listed as an ILB.

Anthony Spencer, 3-4 last year. 4-3 this year. This one hurts. He's listed as an OLB.

Dan Skuta, SLB 4-3 last year with Cincinnati. 3-4 this year 49ers'. OLB. Listed as SLB.

Anyone want an injured Anthony Spencer? He played better last year that D. Ware & is younger so I kept him & trade Ware last year. Now I'm OLB poor.

The "match" function works well. I watched C. Cook go for $2 and was able to keep him for a 2 year deal for $13
