Don't believe there's a dedicated thread, and since they're starting to release information now, I figure it's time for one.

I realize you and probably lots of other people are upset but I'm sorry, the reality is that they made it crystal clear all the way back on July 21st that there would be an early access period before the game launches, and that people would get in based on when they registered their pre-order codes. Which is precisely why I ordered the game on July 21st. This isn't some new thing that they just randomly decided to do yesterday or something.

None of my guild's going to be playing with me until tomorrow or Thursday. So what I'm doing is playing an alt to start, and then leveling my main with my friends. So we're all going to play together just fine even though I've got at least 24 hours on them. There's all kinds of ways to deal with it. And, you know what, in a month it won't matter one iota.

As far as PvP goes, if you're concerned about being griefed, you probably shouldn't be. Unless you queue for warzones, you don't even encounter the other faction at all until you reach Nar Shaddaa, which for most people happens in their very late teens or lower 20s. And the quest areas there as I understand it are fairly segregated. TOR is not a game where you're going to log onto your toon in Korriban or Tython for the first time at level 1 and find level 50s there waiting to gank you. The other faction can't even go to the starter worlds or the capitals, nor as I recall the planet after that.

Questing is going to be fun in my 20s when level 50 griefers are hanging out due to their early launch status.

Yeah I agree with Pants..

Launch is the 20th.. Everyone gets access then..

Some people, what 10% or less?? get access earlier..

Is it an advantage?? yes.. But that is a perk of being one of the early people..

Just think of all the advantages you get over other people that did not play beta or stress tests.. They will be in the world as new babies as you, but you will know where everything is at already and get things done way faster then them.. Is that fair?? It is the same thing, you are getting an advantage if you played beta over those that did not get invites for beta.. You will level faster then non beta players..

Is there anyone who didn't get a beta invite? It's fairly pointless to bitch about it anyway, given that the damage is done. But on principle, its still bullshit that I don't get to play on launch after I pre-order a game.

I didn't play beta. The vast majority of people who are going to end up buying this game did not pre-order it, don't have it preloaded on their computer, did not play the beta and are not worried about perceived disadvantages.

I did not install the beta.. Actually going to wait a while to buy it.. Too many games coming out I want to play..

But in Wow I was always in beta for the new expansions.. I leveled faster then most of my guild.. I had the advantage in leveling and knowing where the best resource gathering were at...

Seriously, from the outside looking in..

Early invite > you > no beta/new players..

It is cool if you have a huge advantage over the new players, but not of the early invites over you?? I am sure someone will sell you their spot if that is possible if you have the right amount of money if it is that important..

There is no real disadvantage. In 1-2 months everyone is prettymuch going to be at max level and have what they need.

By that logic you should never start playing any MMO at any point after launch because everybody has a head start on you and you can't possibly catch up. I wish I'd known that when I started EverQuest a year late or LotRO a year late or WoW for the second time on a new-to-me server more than a year after launch.

Exactly. Although there's a facet to this game that hasn't really existed before, and that's rerolling and the legacy system. It might not just be about getting one toon to 50 anymore. But either way, a month or two from now, the week head start is going to be a distant memory and everything will have settled into place.

Well, usually people preorder the game as a means to assure they will have the title when the game is released...

WoW was sold out for like a month after it was released (usually MMOs will limit the number of copies available at launch). Shit was going on Ebay for twice the retail price. That's why I pre-ordered TOR. /shrug
