Thoughts about today's game vs. the Bills...

-The Oline played like shit. Pass blocking and run blocking are two different things as we did well on blocking for LJ. Then again their run defense was terrible but we did what we needed to do on the ground to be productive for the most part. Jordan Black is a ****in' bum. He just outright sucks in almost everyway imaginable for an offensive lineman. I didn't know this until today's game in which CBS showed a stat that we lead the league in giving up QB knockdowns. Without Roaf does hurt, but you would think that someone could come in and do a respectable job filling in. I wanted to puke whenever it was nearly 3rd down and 40 after all of those false starts and holding calls. That's coaching for ya. DV needs to run their asses into the ground this week in practice.

-I don't know what the hell Trent Green's problem was today. He was constantly under pressure from the lack of production of our Oline, but our passing game wasn't all the Oline's fault. Trent Green was constantly making terrible decisions and throws and looked like the Trent Green from 2001. Trent doesn't have that strong of an arm so I would think maybe the wind had something to do with it but then again he is an NFL QB and you would think that he would have a strong enough arm. That all being said, he played like shit. Probably the shittiest game I have seen him play in the last few seasons IMO.

Our WR's are terrible. We don't have anyone that can stretch the field except maybe sometimes Sammie Parker, but you can't do anything if you're on the sidelines injured. Horn is a joke and Kennison isn't nearly as fast/quick as he used to be. This game clearly makes me believe that we need a #1 WR. None of our WR's can get open. Then Tony G can't get open because they just put their #1 CB on him all game. We need to draft a WR with out first pick, unless a badass tackle is on the board when we pick. The refs still are blind when Tony G is getting raped all game. If we had a good WR, he could get open downfield more often.

-Al Saunders has lost his mind again during a ballgame. I can't tell you enough about how many times I see us run that dame TE screen that hardly ever works. Run, Run, Screen, Punt. Run Screen, Run, Punt. This is ****in reeruned play calling. We need to throw the ball downfield, regardless of how bad our WR's are. You don't score going east to west, you score going north and south. I still can't believe that we are 21st in the NFL in redzone scoring. Last few seasons we were on top of the NFL in that respected category and thats why no teams could really stop us offensively. When Dick goes, I hope Al does too.

-I actually have to give credit to the defense today. Once again they played well enough for us to put points on the board and win this ballgame. Their offense is ****in horrible. They couldn't hardly run the ball. With the exception of those 2 passing plays, one of them in which Warfield over persued off of the line of scrimmage, the other TD was just a great pass. I don't know of many CB's that would have batted that one down. Losman just threw that one perfectly. Jared Allen had another badass game. If he keeps this up and he'll make the Pro Bowl. Scanlon had a pretty good game IMO. This is one of the very very very few cases where the offense has let this team down. It just seems that all of these "very few" cases are happening this season.

-OVERALL-
This game is one that we HAD to win and didn't. With Denver playing a shitty Oakland team and the Chargers creeping up in the division, we needed this one to keep within stride of the Broncos. We choked, plain and simple. We had great field position at some points in the game and we couldn't execute in any way shape of form. Our Oline played by far the worse game since DV has been here. Trent Green made terrible decisions and our WR's are a joke. This is not a playoff team. I don't think it will be a playoff team either. If we play like this, we won't even be 8-8. We still have to play Dallas, New York Giants, San Diego, Denver, New England, and Cincinatti. All of these teams are better than we are and are better than the team we played today. If we lose to the Texans (again), our season will be over and Dick Vermeil HAS to go after the season.

VARSITY
1. Johnson is the real deal. 132 yards rushing and 176 total yards. His chasing down of the lineman on that fumble was a huge, huge play.

2. Trent is getting happy feet from taking so many beatings.

3. Some day, someone's going to jump that short slant to Horn.

4. Throw it to Tony G. downfield. He gets no yards after the catch, so it's useless to throw short passes to him, but he can really get open downfield.

5. Black is getting jerked around moving from left to right, but his performance is still inexcusably poor. Even so, why won't Saunders give him any help? Put the RB on the left side, Al. Come on.

6. Since both kickers were missing field goals, I don't think Tynes can be blamed for the misses. There was something funky in that wind today.

7. Nice hit by Wesley.

8. Our pass defense wasn't that bad today. There was one mistimed leap and one great Buffalo throw that beat us.

9. I kind of liked seeing Derrick Johnson blitz. However, for the 1,000,000th time, I'll request that the defensive players stop telegraphing their blitzes.

10. I'm hoping that at some point Carlos Hall can take Hicks' spot, run defense or not. Hall has a motor and makes plays left and right when he's on the field.

11. Boy, Dalton was sure pounding someone at the end of the game. Not sure what that was all about.

12. That penalty call on Will Shields was a joke. This league is all about protecting QBs and then they give London Fletcher a free blindside shot at Trent after the play is over. Too bad someone didn't take out Fletcher later.

13. What the heck was that play by Buffalo on fourth and one? That was the worst play ever attempted on a football field.

14. If we can't beat a mediocre team like Buffalo, our season is over. That team will be thrilled to hit .500 by Week 16, and we really needed this game.

How big of a play was Horn's drop on 3rd down? He catches that, we keep the drive alive inside the red zone, I think we get a TD there with LJ running. I think that changes the complexion of the game.

That play's been bugging me all day. I really think that was a killer.

This team made a statement in the Broncos and Eagles games earlier this year...

They are average. Another 9-7 or 8-8 season here we come.

Do you guys think that "over confidence" may have played a roll in it?

It was the ball carrier. I was actually trying to figure out why they ejected Dalton. It looked to me like he was just trying to jam his arm down there and yank the ball away from the guy he had just tackled (an admittedly pointless attempt, as it was already blown dead). I think it was #58 for Buffalo that actually started the fight, when he came up and wrapped his arms around Dalton and tried to lift and throw him. It looked like Dalton was just scrambling for the ball. I can see why they ejected Eric Hicks, because he was still kicking and punching long after they pulled everyone else off. But Dalton was just trying to yank the ball out, though he did push and shove a couple times after #58 tried to throw him, but I wouldn't have thought that was enough to get ejected from the game! Not that it mattered, as the game was already decided, and there were only a few seconds left.

Agreed. But I was looking for the flea flicker-double reverse-halfback pitch-half back pass to the QB-lateral three times for the TD, on two.
