To Amazon Prime or NOT to Amazon Prime
Sorry if Q, but I'm on the fence about doing the whole Amazon Prime thing. Seems like getting rid of Netflix all but pays for it, but wanted to ask the opinions of others in this Mecca of awesome knowledge called Chiefs Planet..

Is Amazon Prime really worth it over eBay when you buy, let's say, 5-7 items a month? I ask because I always do the "price+shipping" deal, so it seem like it's a wash at some level. That being said, "Prime" would ALWAYS mean two-day shipping, and that's something I hardly ever do on eBay, so it could be a deal that makes it worth it enough to buy 15-20 things a month. The whole "eliminating some of the instant gratification culture/concern" deal...


Oh, and I've heard that if you use an "edu" account it's free for six months (perhaps not a big deal over a lifetime!!), but is then like half the cost. Does anybody know if that's true? If so, and it' the son who has the "edu" account, how does "Dad" pull off that scam without having the kid able to buy pretty-much anything he's ever wanted?

Thanks in advance... Just looking for some opinions before I leap...

Load the barcode scanner on your phone. Use it on purchases you are going to make at a store to see if it's cheaper. Order it while in the store, save, chuckle.

ONLY get amazon prime for the shipping discount......

The TV service isn't all that great, and you have to pay for a lot of things...

I have had amazon prime for years...it more than pays for itself (for me) because I ship a ton of crap every year...but I would never recommend it for the TV service

The Amazon App has one built into the App (in the search bar area), is that the one you were referring to, or something else?

But I finally did it. Thanks to all who helped me. Y'all all rock!

I enjoy some of the stuff, not sure we spend enough to justify it. Have AppleTV that is pretty slick as well

I've been Prime since it started and have never once had a late delivery. I live in a state where Amazon has several warehouses which plays into that, but I've never had any of my out of state deliveries arrive late.

Well if that's true I'm in good shape... That being said, the folks who work for me in Fayetteville, AR say they collect major comps by their Prime purchases missing the two-day mark...

Amazon Prime is amazing. Other stores may have a price match guarantee, but they can't match the sheer breadth of products offered by Amazon. Plus, you can do it from home, at 2 in the morning if you want to.

It's amazing and worth every penny. I abuse the hell out of that 2-day shipping.
