Post Pioli, are we looking at a full rebuild?

Let's be optimistic and imagine for a moment that the end of this season brings the axe, and Pioli, Crennel, Cassel, and most of the team's major problems are swept out as Clark Hunt proves he is not an absentee owner and does in fact care about winning.

Are we looking at a near total rebuild, at this point?

This would be a team with no GM, no coaching staff worth retaining, and no quarterback. Most of Pioli's draft choices have melted away like cotton candy. If we had a window when we snuck into that Wild Card game, it seems to have closed. But the Chiefs are the 8th youngest team in the league with an average age of 25.8

Would we find a new GM attempting to retain talent like Bowe, Dorsey, Johnson, etc?

Or are we in "blow it up except for Houston, Hali, and a few select parts" territory?

Do the fans have the stomach for another rebuild?

No.

Get a franchise QB.
Hire a head coach who knows how to discipline his players.
Get a coordinator that isn't from the tree.

It really isn't that hard. And Pioli could have made headway on all of these things if he wasn't so obsessed about proving the Patriot Way is the only way.

We've got:

Franchise bookend tackles
A WR with a dark chocolate penis
Jamaal ****ing Charles
Some key cornerstones in our secondary
Incredible talent in our starting linebackers

Let's get rid of them all just in case our next GM wants to institute the Ravens Way or the Giants Way or the Packers Way or the 49ers Way. We can't have any Patriot Way players leftover to mess with that.

Stupid question

Let's don't go overboard, man. We still have talent ... misused, lazy, uninspired, and poorly coached ... but it's there all the same.

After all, Haley could go 1 and 3 with 53 guys off the street.

What we need is a new GM. The right guy in that chair and all our other issues begin to dissolve away like an alka-seltzer tablet in a glass of scotch.

The saints are a team in disarray. They don't even have a head coach, and it took everything in our pathetic tackle box to "win" that cripple fight

Do you think a new gm would come in and give Bowe Larry Fitzgerald money?

He is our only threat receiving wise, it's a legitimate question.

To expand:
QB: We obviously need one (or two)
RB: Charles/Draughn/Gray and Hillis as a wildcard
this is a pretty talented group
FB: Why do we even have a FB on the roster anymore?
TE: Moeaki/Boss
We have two talented albeit injury prone players. This position could use some solidification, but is probably above league average.
WR: Bowe/Baldwin/Breaston/McCluster/Wylie
I would say we have a glut of talent at WR, but I guess you can always use more.
OT: Albert/Winston/Stephenson
Two pro-bowl level starters and one developmental project. I guess we could add a fourth?
OG: Asamoah/Allen
Again, two talented players who require some further development, but are currently satisfactory
C: Hudson
Obviously an adequate center. We could use some additional depth on the interior of the line.

DL: Jackson/Dorsey/Poe/Powe/Bailey/Pitoitua
There are a lot of nice pieces to build a defense around on this line. You have to establish what kind of defense you would run and pick the applicable pieces.
LB: Hali/Houston/DJ/Belcher/Siler
Again, as with the defensive line, there are some nice pieces to choose from here.
CB: Flowers/Routt/Arenas/Brown/Menzie
We could use more CB depth, but obviously the starters are adequate.
S: Berry/Lewis
This is probably the weakest position outside of QB on the roster. We could use either a free safety or a strong safety. Berry can perform either role, but unfortunately can't do both at once.

I doubt Bowe wants to return to this mess anyway.

Ummmm ... I know it's easy to go into hyperbole mode what with the banner flying and all, Mr. qabbaan ... but, this defense has the talent to be a top 5 unit. That has not changed.

Roleo is driving me nuts ... and so are the injuries, but we honestly have the horses on D to shut down an offense if we're playing with enthusiasm and within a scheme that makes sense.

Don't get me wrong, Mr. FAX. I don't think we need to blow things up and start over.

I also don't think this team has nearly the talent others here claim. Instead of people willing to be wrong in their assessment of players, they'd rather blame everything else.

This roster needs some work, and it's showing on Sundays.

You seriously believe that Bowe wanted Larry Fitzgerald money?

Let's get real. We're talking about Scott Pioli, who is a bigger cheapskate than Carl ever was.

And even then, it's too bad we're not ****ing swimming in money to spend

I can't disagree with that.

I sometimes wonder if we have the wrong guys, or we're asking them to do the wrong things.

The result's the same. Hard to tell, at this point.

Yes I do

http://arrowheadaddict.com/2012/08/2...chief-in-2013/

Excerpt from the article:

We don’t know what each side’s final offer was, but it appears Bowe was demanding Larry Fitzgerald money while offering slightly less than Fitzgerald skills. However, salary decisions are based on a cost-benefit analysis and I don’t see anyone who offers the same or greater benefit for the same or lower cost.

I may be wrong but I firmly believe one of the reasons Pioli drafted Baldwin was to eventually replace Bowe.
