And this is why I don't think there will be a pick taken for a QB in the first round.

I might be in the minority on this one, but it does not bother me that we did not get Marino. He might have done well for us, but no one will ever know for sure. What we do know is that he threw for a ton of yards and TDs but only made the SB once and that was in his rookie year. No guarantee he would have done anything special for us. But regardless this team needs to draft a QB high this time and invest whatever it takes to develop him.

Great QB's are a result of great play combined with a coach that knows how to use his ability.
The only coaching staff that I would trust with a rookie QB would have been Vermeil's. |

I can't believe this is something that people can get worried about anymore. Damn near everybody who was involved in that decision has to be retired or dead. Couldn't we find something a little more relevant to worry about? |

It wasn't just Marino they passed on. Jim Kelly, Tony Eason and Ken O Brien. The latter two weren't great, but still had better careers than Blackledge ever did.

This is what really happened. Marino had an incredible JR season. His SR season was such a drop off that it scared everybody off. Plus he had some knee injuries that contributed to drop off in stats. That all played a part.
