Fescoe references a website that doesn't like Alex Smith

Quote:

Coming up tomorrow, we discuss what else...THE CHIEFS. How has Andy Reid changed the culture, one website does not like Alex Smith and why the hate from the national media may be a good thing. Plus we hear from a lot of coaches on the Chiefs staff, we hear from Bill Self and talk with Jayice Pearson at 9 and Lazlo at 930. Plus if you could have a non super hero super power what would it be? Fescoe in the Morning 6-10 AM on 610 Sports Radio
Am I missing something obvious, or is CP gonna get some love/hate on 610 in the morning?

A QB who could engineer two TD drives, coupled with this running game and defense?

Yeah, that kinda' matters.

In the big picture.

Maybe, but it's such a stupid comparison it's a waste of time. Alice is not in the Ryan, Rivers, Romo category. That's pretty much a given by anyone that isn't an Alice fan boy. Now if we want to compare Alice to guys like Tannehill and Daulton I'll listen. I think those are fair comparisons. Not the type of player, but comparable as in terms of value to a team.

I could see lumping Rivers and Romo together (gunslingers who take chances and make mistakes), but Ryan doesn't really seem like the same kind of QB.

I'm not disagreeing, I'm not sure he can do it if the defense scores 4 TDs in the first quarter and we're up 28-0.. Then again, I question his ability to hit the broad side of a barn from 15 yards away. That's not news... In many ways I like the guy, but his inability to throw a football accurately is a HUGE problem. His receivers not catching the few he throws well makes it all the worse..

I wasn't really comparing styles, I'm talking about levels of QB starting with guys like Rodgers, Manning, Brady, Brees in the elite category. The 2nd tier is the Romo/Rivers type guys. Smith is one of those middle of the pack guys.

You still didn't answer. Did Rivers choke on the last drive? Did he fail, much of it because of his own doings? I just think its terrific that Rivers did exactly what I would expect of him which is why I wouldn't want him over Smith next week. He fumbled a snap at a very important time...again. Who is shocked? Anyone?

The whole "game-managing" approach could win a 'ship with this defense, no question. But the personnel currently involved? God would have to intervene.

What you are pointing out is the difference between Rivers/Romo and the elite guys. If you are comparing Rivers to Manning than yes, you have a point. But you are trying to compare a guy that is a major asset to his team to a guy who is known for "not turning the ball over". You're comparing JV against Varsity guys. It's dumb and again wasting my time.

Ryan has been garbage without his elite receiving weapons. Flacco and Dalton have been crap as well. The great Kaepernick was 11/22 for 91 yards and an INT today. Russell Wilson had 125 yards last week.

I could go on and on and on.

Alex Smith will never be confused with a future Hall of Famer like Brees, Manning or Brady. But he's a solid, smart QB that is a winner that doesn't beat himself or his team. I'd say that's a pretty valuable asset.

His record over the past three seasons speaks for itself.

Because Alex Smith is such a drive-finisher.... Surely you are ****ing joking, right?

Alex is resting.

He see's the defense scoring points and giving him leads so he just puts it on cruise control and is using minimal energy just to ensure the win.

He's saving up for the playoffs. By then he'll have gelled with his receivers and be ready to go. You'll see. This offense will be clicking on all cylinders and Alex will be finishing drives like Trent Green vs the Colts... no punts!
