Dorsey: "8-10 legitimate trade discussions" during the draft
I'll double check the podcast later to make sure I heard the numbers right, but it was a brief answer during the final four of an interview with Petro on 810 a few minutes ago. He added that they were extremely active on the phones this year.

Just thought I'd mention it, since there's been some recent concern voiced about how active the team was(n't) moving draft picks around this weekend.

It takes at least 2 teams to do a deal.

both have to be satisfied with what they're getting/giving up.

Sometimes both parties don't agree and nothing gets done. It happens.

I'm sure we tried to trade Flowers. Maybe we tried to trade Berry to everyone's dislike... Probably didn't like what we were going to get in return.

If the deal isn't there, this isn't something you just say "**** it" and do it anyways. We probably didn't like the return so we said forget it.

Which means the opportunities were there and they still didn't pursue them.

Still doesn't tell us anything cause we don't know what was offered. It's hard to imagine though they couldn't have found one deal good enough to still get a decent player on their board and move back to acquire another pick that would have allowed them to draft 1 F-ing WR out of the 33 taken!

Can we call G.B. Today and trade one of our picks for next year for one of the three WR's they took in this years draft!?

It's not hard to imagine at all.

And I think people get too hung up on the WR label. DAT should have a prominent role.

Dorsey has failed miserably this offseason.

Yes the Chiefs had a tough situation… not much salary cap space, lots of free agents, only 6 draft picks, etc., but a creative GM finds a way to still maximize opportunities to improve the team.

Dorsey hasn't done that… in free agency or in the draft.

We used every second of clock given for our first round pick. The card was turned it with like 10 seconds left.

That wasn't trading up - there was no up. We were trying to trade down. That's gaining picks.

No one knows how many of the 8 were with that 1st pick but it's pretty damned obvious at least one was...
