and At my job I often see people in shirts or jackets with a sports team on it so I try and make conversation. More often than not I get a blank stare.

i dunno thrift store, hand me downs? beats me i live in wichita and we have a few stores that have a pretty wide selection of college teams so it's easy for someone to get O-State, VT and such

yeah i have a buddy who claims to be a lifelong chiefs fan but the only players he knows are LJ, Bowe, and Cassel.

I'm not surprised at all.

Growing up in the 70's and 80's in KC, I hardly knew anyone in junior high or high school that gave a rat's ass about the Chiefs.

That changed in the 90's (although I moved in 1993). When I'd visit, all I'd hear from new fans is that the Chiefs "suck". Of course, this was like 1995-1997, when they hardly sucked. They were just bandwagoneers that had never paid attention in the 70's & 80's.

I'm willing to bet that most people could care less about the Chiefs now, much less watch the games.

FTR, I haven't missed a Chiefs broadcast in decades. Even on vacation, I'll find a sports bar somewhere, whether it's Cancun or Cabo.

I share that passion my friend, I Have only missed a couple that were beyond my control. I may piss and moan and tell you they suck, but there is no other option, period. 40 ****in years will do that to you.
