It could be for the most obvious, and even then it's just another quick judgement call along with all of the other challenges with the new rules. I don't like how the NHL does it, where they still call the original penalty, even though I get why it's that way. Suspension after the fact is probably a bit much, but I think it would prevent the most obvious flops.

So, I guess one easy solution would be for the players to respect the refs and the game, and just play basketball, and let the refs do their job. Granted, they aren't very good at it overall, and the new rules don't help, but flopping around certainly doesn't fix anything.

There is no hatred. Anyone 100% objective, Kansas fan or otherwise, will tell you that Marcus Smart dives more than any other athlete in any sport in the world. People don't like that, period. It doesn't matter who the players is. It's nothing personal against Smart. Diving is looked down upon by both players and fans. It cheapens the game and it's not sporting. The fact that you can't objectively see the situation makes it impossible for anyone to argue with you.

It would false to suggest that anybody here has entered into this particular discussion with any level of objectivity. Smart has become such a pariah for KU fans precisely because he's won 2 games against them.

There sure would be a lot of pariahs for KU fans if all it took was winning two against Kansas.

I promise you nobody would dislike Marcus Smart if he didn't dive as much and as blatantly as he does.

Of course it would. If he still got calls while blatantly diving, people would still dislike him and make fun of him like they are now. It's possible that there wouldn't be as much vitriol because people tend to get less angry when their team wins, but it would still be much the same.

The stunt was organized by Iowa State junior Michael Harris and fliers with instructions for fans were handed out to those in the student section before the game. Harris says he was inspired by Smart's "infamous" reputation around the Big 12 for trying to draw fouls by flopping.

Smart leads the Cowboys with 17.6 points and 4.7 assists per game. He was suspended for three games after shoving a Texas Tech fan who was taunting him last month.

The fact that he's both a star and has beaten KU twice in crushing fashion that is the main catalyst in the incredible level of butthurt we're seeing.
