A thought on beating NYG

I've been thinking about this. I think this game could be decided in the first half if KC can come out swinging and put points on the board.

The Giants have a reputation for starting the season slow and then coming on strong going into the playoffs. So naturally, I assumed that their players were going to be impervious to giving up. I mean, they constantly start seasons slow only to come back and kick some January ass, right? That's what everyone talks about... the Giants' turning it on late, right?

Bullshit.

Since taking over as head coach, Coughlin's teams have been an historically strong starters. Their WORST start to the first half of season was in 2009, and they opened up with five straight wins before dropping four in a row.

2004 - lost opener, 6-2 to start the season.
2005 - won first two, 7-2 to start the season.
2006 - went 1-2 to start, then won five straight. 6-2
2007 - lost first two, won six straight. 6-2 *SUPER BOWL*
2008 - won first four, 12-1 total over first thirteen weeks
2009 - won first five, lost four in a row after that.
2010 - won opener, lost two in a row, 7-2 to start the season
2011 - lost opener, 7-2 to start the season *SUPER BOWL*
2012 - lost opener, 6-2 to start the season.

So the myth that the Giants are slow starters before turning it on late is totally false. Under Coughlin they have NEVER had three losses in their first eight games.

This is completely new territory for them, and there is no guarantee this team won't quit if they feel a fourth loss is coming to them. Lord knows they've had plenty of grumbling from players in the past.

The problem is that Eli is never out of the game. He somehow becomes this insane playmaker in the fourth quarter. If he didn't have to play the first three, the guy would be undefeated.

But the rest of the team is fallible. The Chiefs need to jump out to an early, commanding lead. They need the Giants to turn the ball over, so the defense pulls a Romeo Special and just gives the **** up. "Man, here we go again. Another loss. **** it."

At that point, two things will happen:

1. The defenders won't be attacking to the ball the same way they do when there's a fighting chance. We've all seen this happen. Shit, we LIVED it for the past ten years.

2. OUR defense will pin their ears back and go to town on a suspect defensive line. Eli Manning, for good or ill, holds onto the ball too long. Sometimes that turns into an insane evasion and circus catch by David Tyree. Sometimes it turns into a Manning stain on the defender's uniform. We need the latter.

I'm not going to predict anything, but I do believe that this game CAN be determined in the first half. If we are neck and neck going into the fourth quarter, the Giants can absolutely turn their pride switch on and shock Arrowhead.

If we take the air out their tires early, we can make this a long day of Jamaal Charles running down their throats.

When you have 10 probowlers on Defense like we do , all we need to worry about is NOT turning the ball over. A solid Defense > a solid offense

Andy Reid is 17-14 all-time versus the Giants.

12-10 against Coughlin.

The Chargers are the ones who would start slow then come into form down the stretch.
Then choke in the playoffs.

I think that's gonna be our matchup we need to be concerned about. Our OL has to stop Tuck /Pierrepaul . If we keep them off our QB we'll be OK. Go Charles.

The Giants are tied for last in the league in sacks.

Kansas City is #1.

People are nervous, because NY has historically been a good team, but that is the ONLY reason to think this isn't a win for us.

I think it will be a close game, but we should come out on top at Arrowhead.

Very valid point, but I believe it was the '07 Giants team that won the Super Bowl, not the '08 team.

I think the Giants got that reputation for A) winning the super bowl after going 0-2 to start the season; and B) for winning the super bowl on a 9-7 season.

I think the Steelers did that in '06 after getting in the playoffs as the six seed as well.

Our Chiefs have won 2 games because of turnovers.

That's all I am going to say.
