Looking at Rainman's "Greatest Chief" polls, I start to realize that certain players don't get voted for by a majority (even though they may deserve it, and Rainmain has to pimp them), mostly because they played back in the "day." Now, either some of us are too young to remember and haven't bothered researching our team's roots, or jumped on board sometime after.

I'm also interested to see what people who have never lived in the general vicinity of KC have to say about their path to the light.

I will say that I am prejudiced against any band wagon fans, even if they have stuck with it since, say '90. I'm very big into hometown loyalty.

When I was a wee child I watched and went to Chiefs games with my dad. There was no other option. We didn't go to other games, we didn't watch other teams, we didn't listen to other teams on the radio, and we didn't talk about other teams (Same with the Royals and KU). This was during the '80's mind you, so it's not like there was a lot going on in Arrowhead. My dad raised me right. Since '89, I have been away from the KC area, but have maintained my Chiefdom, and I will never relinquish it.

So I'm curious, how did you come to find yourself bleeding red and gold?

(I'm sure this has been done several times, but my feeble search attempts were unsuccesful.)

Dad got season tickets in 1965.

I was in the Huddle Club in 1966,
old Municipal Stadium.

I've missed about 6 regular season homes games since 1966.

I was at the last game at Municipal, longest game vs. Dolphins.

I've been at every home playoff game in Chiefs history, including all the cold ones.

I was (and still am) a big Schottenheimer fan. At the time I really started getting into football (1989/1990), Marty was here with Okoye, Thomas, Smith, Carter, etc. Exciting times! and now I am hooked.

Joe Montana showed me the light. I was 12 and looking for a team to follow. At the time Joe was my favorite player.

When I first got interested in football (age 12 or so), I started looking around for a team. Both my brothers became Cowboy fans, and I didn't want to drink that Kool Ade, nor did I jump on the "local" teams' bandwagons (Eagles, Skins, Colts at the time).
One Sunday evening, we somehow wrested control of the TV from Dad and "Bonanza", I saw the Chiefs beat the Faders, and that, as they say, was that.
Been a fan from afar since '71. Missed the SB year-dammit!

I was not raised in the KC area, but I was fortunate to be raised in the Chiefs television coverage area (southwest Missouri). Therefore, my early games were the Chiefs, and back in the time period when I started watching them, they were very strong (1969-1971). Therefore, I'm not sure if I was a bandwagon fan who never got off, or if I was just in the right place at the right time. Incidentally, no one else in my family is a football fan. I discovered the sport on my own.

Do you have brothers and sisters? Just wondering how many times the world was blessed with Rain men and women.

A combination of factors. My Uncle and cousins were visiting us on Christmas day, 1971. There was a football game on TV that day, and they were rooting for the team in Red. So did I, and never stopped.

For some reason, I didn't follow pro football for a long time. I prefered college ball...the passion, the rivalries. Big 8 and Big 10 stuff.

I came to live in the Chiefs television viewing area, and after a while I starting working more pro games into my football viewing schedule.

The Chiefs had a pretty good year (for them) in the late 80s and made the playoffs for one game. That was the year I think I got hooked. Of course, they quickly went into the Frank Ganz years, but I stuck with them and have followed them ever since.
