Former West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Geno Smith is widely regarded as the top quarterback in the 2013 NFL Draft class and he has been receiving interest from a number of teams that are selecting in the top ten. The most recent team to throw their hat in the mix for Smith is the New York Jets.

Jets senior personnel executive Terry Bradway and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg attended Smith’s Pro Day at West Virginia.

Not only did Bradway and Mornhinweg attend the Pro Day, but they spent private time with the quarterback, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York. According to Cimini’s report, the Jets contingent came away impressed.
The question is whether or not the Jets would trade up in the draft to acquire Smith, since he will likely be off the draft board before the Jets pick at No. 9.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals have already expressed their interest in Smith, so New York would have to make a move if they would like to land the WVU product. That is highly unlikely.

Expect the Jets to move forward with Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy and Tim Tebow as their quarterbacks.

The positive news for New York fans? The Jets seem to be looking at their options at the position moving forward.

Philly's offensive line was only ever bad under Reid's tenure because of injuries. It had nothing to do with his apparent inability build a line. (Didn't even half to build one here and he is managing to screw it up assuming Albert is gone).

Im stating that two of the top six teams that have offensive minded head coaches, who are known for their work with qbs, that have questionable at best qb situations, dont seem inclinded to take the best overrall qb in this draft if he is even there.

Kansas City- Andy Reid, Doug Pedersen, John Dorsey all with a pedigree of knowing what it takes to build a successful qb from scratch.

Jax- Gus Bradley, D Coordinator of Seattle last year

Oakland Raiders- Dennis Allen, former d coordinator, preparing to let Terrible Pryor compete for his starting qb job......

Cleveland Browns- Norv Turner, and Chud, who helped Derek Anderson become a pro bowler, and Cam Newton set every rookie qb record known to man.

Coaches do not draft...that's what the GM does.

IE. Our GM was in Indy when they took Manning and was the head of scouting in Atlanta when they took Matt Ryan.
