Dude, Im pretty sure Bowe has a TD catch in each of our last 4 or 5 games straight.

He has been consistent, you just cant win em all.

He ran the route right, came back to the ball and dove at it and just couldnt make the catch...it happens to the best of em.

And that play cost the Chiefs this game. The route is set up that way, Cassel threw an ok pass. Not perfect, but it was very catchable.

He has to know how to win games when they are on the line.

I'm just tired of Bowe costing the Chiefs wins. He's done it his entire career.

The **** are you talking about?

Bowe's been one of our best players since the Indy game.

He was okay today and had a horrible drop at a horrible time. That doesn't change the fact that he's still been quite good over the last 4 games.

Should we deactivate Flowers while we're at it?

C'mon folks, stop being stupid when it comes to Dwayne Bowe. He's a very good #2 reciever that's mis-cast as a #1. Just because he's our #1 doesn't mean we have to go batshit crazy when he can't live up to a talent level he simply doesn't have.

Bowe isn't Jerry Rice. He isn't Marvin Harrison. He's going to drop passes and he's going to do so when we wish he wouldn't. Benching him for a game isn't going to do a damn bit of good. Deactivating him for a winnable game (i.e. 'pulling a McDaniels) isn't going to turn him into Don Hutson all of the sudden.

Simma down - you'll live longer.

Why?

Or, more accurately, what makes you think he doesn't?

He's just not an elite WR. He's a good one and good WRs drop balls.

Benching him won't upgrade his talent. It won't suddenly make him better than he is. Benching DJ got him to pay attention and play up to his ability. Dwayne Bowe is playing up to his ability right now.

In fact, he might be playing over it (he's not a 15 TD/season guy).

Stop having unrealistic expectations for a good player that's not a great player and you'll be far less disappointed when he doesn't play like a HOFer.

To me it's not about what passes he drops, it's about when he drops the passes. He obviously wasn't fully focused on that play. We need a guy that can be in a zone when a clutch play is needed.

Maybe he shouldn't be deactivated. But maybe we should start planning better for the future at our WR position.

By now, I'm pretty used to my bad girlfriend turning some no-name into an ESPN Rockstar for a week.

It's Quinn Gray one week, Miles Austin or Ford.

hell, this one time, they knocked Tom Brady out of the game and some douchebag who didn't even play college football came on and threw a 90 yard TD pass.

Again - why don't you think he was fully focused? What do you base that on except for the fact that he didn't bring the ball in?

He ran a perfect route, got his separation. He made a great stop around the DB and put himself in a position to catch the ball.

From there he had to slide to the ground and make a catch that's one of pure instinct. No amount of focus in the world was going to change whether or not he has the muscle memory, hand/eye coordination and dexterity required to make that catch on a consistent basis. He didn't overthink it, he didn't underthink it, he didn't run without the ball (like Moeaki). In a play that required a perfect physical response in 1/10th of a second, his body just didn't quite cooperate.

He did everything right except bring the ball in. That tells me the guy was locked in - just not talented enough to make the play.

We have a tendency as fans to mistake a lack of talent for a lack of effort. Bowe's effort on that play wasn't lacking, nor was his focus. He's simply not talented enough to make that play on a consistent basis.

The Chiefs are asking a #2 WR (a very good #2 WR) to be their #1 guy. When that happens, you're going to get incredibly painful drops at incredibly difficult times.

Yeah I've noticed as well. Which is why they are trolls! They will stick around for TONIGHT and maybe tomorrow. And then never show up again. Or maybe come back for the Jan 2nd game. But not AFTER the game.

I did he won the game for the Raiders and put the Chiefs in their place. You all have been living in a dream world for quite a while and he helped to give you a wake up call. Even with the softest schedule in the league you won't sniff the playoffs.

It takes focus to make a catch like that. Not talent. Talent gets you in position to catch the ball, but the mind (focus) is what brings it in. A 12 year old could have caught that pass at full focus. But he wouldn't have had the talent to create the separation. Bowe has the talent, just never the focus in key moments.

FWIW one of his negatives before he was drafted was that he lacks concentration and that he might be "dumb".
