That's just wrong. It's just 100% wrong.

That was a talent catch. Focus brings in the simple slant route on 3rd and short. Focus hauls in that deep pass when you have 3 or 4 steps. Focus is what keeps your mind from getting in your own way when you have a moment or two to recognize the gravity of the situation you're facing.

Focus has absolutely nothing to do with a timing route thrown to your back shoulder when you're sliding to the ground below a defender. That's all talent.

That catch was a talent catch - you're seeing what you want to see.

Put us in our place? Your team was 4-4 and you STILL didn't join the Planet to talk shit to the Chiefs fans UNTIL your team won.

Ditto. You can believe that catching that pass requires talent and not focus. But I'll believe that catching always requires focus, rather than talent. Talent is in the body. Focus is in the mind. The mind controls the arms and hands, and Bowe misplaced his hands when he misjudged the pass as being too low. His hands went too low, the ball went through his arms higher than he thought.

Baseball's probably the best example of this kind of thing phenomenon.

Tony Pena Jr. would kick the easiest groundballs you'd ever see. Then he'd turn around and make some stunning diving catch up the middle to start a double play.

The E on the grounder was a lack of focus - the dude had time to think and his brain got in the way. He wasn't able to block out the externalities and finish off the play. Meanwhile, the diving play was a talent play - it all happened to fast for him to get in his own way.

That catch was a talent catch. Bowe wasn't in the open field looking to haul in an easy first down. It wasn't obvious that he was going to get a good look on that ball. He turned, saw the ball and just couldn't get his hands closed in time.

C'mon - there was nowhere near enough time for him to trip over himself there. It wasn't focus, it was skill.

Go easy on the raider trolls. They're used to coming in to clean up after the party.

This isn't the first night they've used their faces to sponge up a glory hole wall.

So it's your position that, for a WR, talent begins and ends at how fast he can run?

His ability to catch the ball is based purely on his 'focus'?

C'mon - the ability to catch the football is a talent. The ability to put your hands where your eyes think they should go is an innate skill. Hand-eye coordination, hand-speed and physical dexterity are physical talents.

No amount of additional focus there was going to get Bowe to close his arms faster. His mind didn't get in his way, his hands did. The same hands that have been inconsistent throughout his entire college and pro career.

He doesn't have the hand-eye coordination or physical dexterity to be one of those guys that brings that ball in every time. That's just all there is to it.

This could go in circles all day. We're gonna have to agree to disagree. People have different views on life. I'll leave it at that.
