Miami's Martin leaves team after 'emotional breakdown'

Jonathan Martin leaves Dolphins after 'breakdown'

By Dan Hanzus

Published: Oct. 30, 2013 at 06:39 p.m. Updated: Oct. 30, 2013 at 07:00 p.m.
An unusual situation is unfolding in Miami, where Dolphins right tackle Jonathan Martin has left the team after suffering an "emotional breakdown" this week.

NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported Wednesday that Martin is currently seeking help with his family after an incident at the team's cafeteria, according to team sources.

Martin is listed on the team's injury report with an illness, and is doubtful to play Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that Martin was the victim of a prank at the cafeteria, becoming enraged enough to "smash his food tray on the ground."

The second-year pro has not been with the team since that time. Darlington reports that Martin immediately sought treatment at a local hospital. He has since left the hospital and is now spending time with his family, according to team sources.

Martin opened the season as the Dolphins' replacement for Jake Long at left tackle. He was moved to right tackle when the team acquired Bryant McKinnie via trade last week. Tyson Clabo is expected to start in Martin's place on Thursday.

Dwayne Bowe was destroyed by the team when he gave up sensitive information about importing. I don't see any reason whatsoever why Tannehill would say anything bad about Incognito.

I don't think this is black and white. I've said that Martin is probably ****ed up in the head. I know there are two sides here. But I don't trust anything that comes out of the locker room. We've been in the Pioli era long enough to know that when shit like this happens, I can guarantee you every single player was media coached and given a specific set of talking points. Why do you think Philbin has been pretty much reading off prepared statements?

I don't really trust anybody's word. I don't trust Martin. I don't trust Incognito. But the text messages are factual evidence that something was going on. And there is too much smoke in inside sources here that reveals that this may have been even worse.
Yeah, I don't think anyone disputes the fact that something is going on. I think the people who have been saying all along that there's more going on here than meets the eye have been right. And it's still probably true.

Most bullies don't want to be stood up to. I was bullied when I was younger as I skipped 2nd grade so I was a year behind everyone growth wise and one of the smallest kids in class till I hit a big growth spurt and the weight room in 9th grade. When I started High School I may have weighed 100 pounds soaking wet with change in my pockets. I went in the weight room before school and a bunch of senior football players tied me up and hung me upside down from a squat rack. They left me alone in there, but I was able to free myself. I went back the very next day, they actually left me alone from then on. Fast forward by the start of junior year I was a solid 205 pounds and the strongest guy in the school, and was participating in boxing matches. I then went around and started protecting people from bullies. I found bullies to be some of the biggest cowards around when faced with some one who they think can whip their butts. I had some guys begging me on their knees in front of crowds not to hurt them seconds after I caught them picking on some small nerdy guy. Not everyone has the nerve to stand up to a bully or wants to fight, but hopefully someone puts the bully in his place. Bullying is grade school stuff and has no place anywhere especially amongst grown men.

It's starting to sound like a case of guys being guys and Martin being a girl.
Well, there's no excuse for permitting that behavior if they were. Martin should have taken it up the chain if he couldn't get it solved at his level.

I sympathize with the guy even though I have been critical of him somewhat in this thread. Continually getting emotional flack from people near you is a hard thing to deal with. It just seems like there are probably better ways to deal than throwing your lunch tray and walking away. No matter how much we all kind of want to do that some days.

So according to ESPN, if you're an "honorary black guy" it's ok to use the "N" word. Sweet, hope my coworkers are ready for this tomorrow.

I believe it is a Ferrari FF. However, the Ferrari F12 is a beast - The perfect sexy racecar.

The Ferrari FF reminds me of the story about Dubai police force fleet of supercars. This collection of police cars include Lamborghini Aventador ($550,000 each), Austin Martin one 77 ($1.5 mil each), Bentleys, Ferraris, Mercedes, Koenigsegg ($1.6 mil each), and my favorite – Bugatti Veyron ($2.6 mil each), the fastest streetcar in the world, among high-speed exotics.

Here is the funny part; the women police of Dubai drive the Ferrari FF. According to Dubai chief of police, if you want to live, you drive a Ferrari FF – If you want to die, you drive a Ferrari F12, Lamborghini Aventador, Koenigsegg, and Bugatti Veyron.

Incognito drives a Ferrari FF. Mr. tough guy...

Use your mouse to navigate the Ferrari F12berlinetta and Ferrari FF. Pick the color black. You can play around with the exterior and interior of the car.

Ferrari FF:

Ferrari F12berlinetta:

Just so you know, Dubai ('The City of Gold' or Bling) and Abu Dhabi is one of the world's most beautiful cities. It is a hot spot for millionaires, ex-pats and hence a hotbed of supercars.

Didn't sound like it was just the big goober white guy, sounded like practically half the team was f'ing with this guy, GM included. He bugged out of the miami facilities after a whole crew of people "joked" on him. Unless you have a white trash day laborer job with prison rules in effect I couldn't blame somebody for leaving that situation.

He's doing an interview on Boomer and Carton right now on WFAN. Pretty interesting. Worth a listen if they post it on their site later.

Basically he's saying it's mostly on Martin and Martin was soft.

I don't use the word in my daily vernacular but if my goal was to piss off a black man, I could see me using it. Quietly. And if there weren't any other black people around.

I suppose it's a good thing I only piss off white men.
