Call of Duty will go head-to-head with Battlefield 3 in 2011.

The third game in the series, which will be shown to press during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, is set for release this coming fall, Electronic Arts confirmed.

The publisher revealed the first teaser trailer for the game on its official website tonight. The trailer, which contains no actual gameplay, displays quick cuts of helicopters, ground troops, tanks and fighter jets.

Additional details courtesy of the official Battlefield Blog confirm a full single-player and co-op campaign, jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer for the PC version. The Frostbite 2 engine will power the game and a Limited Edition will be revealed around GDC.

Developer DICE confirmed earlier this morning it was canceling the release of Battlefield 1943 and the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught pack for PC.

I think I've maxed out my upgrades on the PKP in Support class. I think I'm going to start using the M27 and start leveling up with that and take a break from the LMGs.

I'm jealous of the PC guys who get to play 32 on 32...

I've played BF3 on the 360 and PS3, but the whole time I've played I knew I was missing out on the real game, which of course is the PC version with those 64 player matches. This game alone has prompted me to start building a PC that can max out this game.

anyone know how to practice flying helicopters w/out destroying your team?

I tried to hop on an empty server last night to practice flying, but it said it couldn't connect. I had a connection (had been playing regular Conquest matches prior and after).

I'd really hate to 'practice' during a real game etc. I've read where some peopel say to do that, but I just can't bring myself to it if there's an alternative.

So a recon guy using SOFLAM and an engineer with a javelin = major destruction against vehicles.

WV and I tore some vehicles up last night. Apparently locking on with the SOFLAM and hitting a target with a javelin equals major damage bonus. We were one-shotting helicopters all night, where one hit would make them explode, killing everybody in it.

I can imagine a squad of a recon guy, two engineers w/ javelins, and a support guy could do a ton of damage on the vehicle based maps.

There is one co-op mission where you can fly a helicopter and learn the controls.
