Don't know if this was posted or not, but a strong walk-up of over 7,000 today. Thinking that with Ventura on the mound tomorrow, that will be even stronger.

According to Baseball Reference, attendance at the K is indeed up this year.

Not counting today's game, our average attendance in 2013 through 7 games was 20,733.

Up to today's game, our average attendance in 2014 has been 21,732.

That's a YTD difference of 6,993 and an average increase of 999 per game.

So far this year, 16 teams have seen an increase in attendance and 14 a decrease.

In 2013, our first seven home opponents were Minnesota (3), Toronto (3), and Cleveland (1)
This season, our first seven have been against Chicago, Tampa Bay, and Minnesota.

Oh, and I just included today's game in the numbers. Game 8 last year produced an attendance of 22,001. So today's of 24,291 pushes our average attendance this year up to 22,051 vs. 20,891 last year...an improvement of 2,290 per game.

Still early, but encouraging.

I'm hoping that if we can ride a hot streak into the summer when school and such lets out it will rise even more.

I'd love to, but I'll be heading to bed soon and will be at work for about 12 hours tomorrow. It's a day game and Ventura is on the mound, I'm sure that alnorth is available for this one.

Important to remember how awful the weather was last April. We had our latest snow in history on May 5 or whenever. I watched a few games early on where I saw sleet falling outside and thought "I am praying for those at the game tonight that they avoid certain death from hypothermia"

One game where Santana was cutting through Tampa like butter was canceled before the 5th inning due to snow.

I was going to do this from the beginning of the year, as Pete was just killing it early on. As the team has hit a luke warm streak, he's calmed a little. Still, some of these are gems.

The Billy Butler/Eric Hosmer/Escobar hate posts:

Quote:
way to move the runner, Billay...you worthless ****

Esky just taking terrible swings...too long and lanky

Hosmer you douche....wtf man? Quit trying to kill the ****ing ball

Hosmer is just trying to kill the ball and that's his problem. He shortens his swing up and it's 1-1 right now

God damn it, Hosmer..that's twice you've popped up to the infield with a runner on 3rd and 1 out
Umpire complaints:

Quote:
huh, Chen didn't get that call...

So the strike 3 on Dozier suddenly went to being called a ball...

Come on, Ump, that was a strike
But in the end:

I'm heading out today for the first time. I was able to grab some tickets via the secondary market fairly discounted. If I recall, at this time last year, tickets on the secondary market were still relatively close to box office prices.

Could be because it's Easter, the seat locations I grabbed for today are definitely season tickets holders that aren't planning on going (lower level, aisle seats).

What secondary market do you use?
