Gamer headset?

i was hoping that some of you online gamers would know of an inexpensive unit to use for talking to other gamers while playing an online game.

1. inexpensive (Basic ... i don't need anything fancy)

2. i would prefer just the earpiece/mic variety like they use for cell phones if possible.

3. USB preferable

4. wireless preferable

[/edit]5. for a computer, not console

thanks for all sugesstions

You don't need a $50 headset. When anyone ever asks for a inexpensive headset with great sound quality for the price,... I always say Plantronics can't be beat.

I know it isn't in the style you are looking for or USB, but the Plantronics GAMECOM1 for $19.99 can't be beat. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826106069

The .Audio 350 is a couple bucks cheaper but a very worthy alternative. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826265009

Speaking of cheaper alternatives for gamers. I also have to give a shout to a fairly young company on the market named Wolfking. They make gaming pads, keyboards and mice. But anyway, I purchased a WolfKing Trooper mouse about a month ago and love every minute of it. 2200 dpi, laser, on the fly sensitivity adjustment, button selector for 2-3-4 round bursts, in the mold of the g-series mice, and more for right around $25. I recommend it to any FPS gamer. Definately beats the $50 and up for everyother gaming mouse.

NP.

Why the preference for a earbud? Personally, I can't stand them. I like to cover my ear completely. Anything sticking in my ear drives me insane.

FWIW if you notice with Buy.com if you sign up for google checkout account you get a extra 10 off.

i don't prefer anything ... i've never use either. I just want something were i can hear other things. Sticking something in my ear might drive me crazy too.

just looking from something small and simple.

minimal is the key word i think

yea, noticed the google thing but it's only for your first google checkout purchase and i've already used it ... but thanks!!

is the "saggyness" of your sack genetic or what?

heh

I agree. I'd go for over-ear headphones, personally. I got mine for maybe $30 at Radio Shack a few years ago. I don't do any internet gaming anymore now that I've moved to dialup territory, but it worked fine for Unreal Tournament w/ Teamspeak when I used them.

I've had the older verson of the Gamecon1 in the past. It is surprisingly good, and for $20, it really can't be beat. Great sound and great mike.
