It's not all Bowes fault, but he did say in an interview that he didnt give full effort to get his feet in bounds because he was afraid that would worsen his injury.

That quote pissed everyone off, I think.

I agree. But I am just not a big fan of the intentional grounding rule in general. Too subjective. And loss of down is too severe as well. JMO

That call, and pass interference have way to much weight in the outcome of games. And you can add the five yard rule for illegal contact to that as well. Those three calls can determine the outcome of a game far to much IMO.

I don't see how the loss of down is too severe.

Intentional grounding is only called when a QB throws the ball, from inside the pocket, to the middle of nowhere to avoid a sack. If he doesn't throw the ball he loses the yards and the down is lost. Seems pretty fair to me.

Yeah maybe we only win 7 games but who's going to fall that is going to be a better QB then Smith for the next 5 years? Who's the guy in the 2014 draft?

Frankly speaking, none of them. At best, a few of those QBs might develop into mid-level starters but that'll take at least 3-5 years to happen.

I agree with jd.

The one penalty that I think is too severe is the defensive holding call.

Automatic first down is just ridiculous to me.

That isn't as bad as the defensive pass interference calls down field. I think it should be 10 or 15 yards for pass interference. Teams throw down field just in hopes of getting those calls. It makes the refs too big a part of the game.

I look at things in a different perspective. If you can find a guy that will be just as good, maybe a little bit worse but cheaper, for the next 2-5 years then do it.

I love the idea of having a guy on a rookie contract and then in 4 or 5 years when its contract time, decide if hes your future or draft another one.

You can build an absolutely amazing team around a QB on a rookie deal if you are half way smart about things. They dont even have to be great. Instead, we are gonna dump 25 percent of our cap into guys like Alex and dBowe. /sharts

I just cant understand the obsession people have with Alex. There are quarterbacks that are elevated by the talent around them and there are others who are so good that they elevate the entire team with their exceptional skills and leadership.

Which category does our QB fall in?

Spoiler!

I find it funny that with Trint, the defense was blamed after year 1.
With AS (year 1) the defense was blamed.

Its a team game and I blame the whole team.

When I say its the whole team that means players, coaches, GM, owner etc.

IMO having the best of any of them and the suckage of the others just doesn't work except for a few in between cases.

We always talk about best QB, best Defense etc, but it takes balance of the most sides between teams to win it all, 5 if you want to count luck in the same year. Thats why the NFL rules, best total team and luck at the end.
