Blackberry Pearl Vs iPhone

I know the iPhone isn't out yet and some of you really despise macintosh ...but I recently bought a blackberry pearl and after watching the apple keynote tonight I can't wait until about 8 months after it comes out....it seems so user friendly and I can tell you I think the blackberry sucks in user friendlyness...I still don't understand why the volume control on the side doesn't control both the ear volume and the ring volume just to name one thing.....anywho I was wondering what other blackberry/smart phone users think about the user friendliness of their phone and if they would use the iPhone?

I have a Palm Treo 680 through work. It's easy enough to use but the battery life majorly sucks. I can't even keep it on standby (without talking) for a whole day. I could be persuaded to try the iPhone even though I'm not a Mac guy.

The biggest issue's with the iPhone are the price and its the only one that will not allow you to install 3rd party software. So basically the iPhone better do everything you want, 'cause you will not be adding anything to it.

I had a blackberry (can't recall the model) about a year ago and the only thing I didn't like was how attachments were viewed. I get a lot of .xls and .doc attachments and it sucked viewing them.

I have a Treo 700W now and while it's not exponentially better, the documents come through better.

the biggest issue w/the iPhone is storage. 4/8gb is just not enough storage space for songs, movies, and tv shows. the iPhone has a little slot on the side which i thought might be for flash memory, wrong. the slot is for a SIM card

no way to add memory.
i'm still saving for one.

Ouch, that could suck a lot. I guess that is 3 issues.

Not to mention it will only be available with Cingular service. It would be nice if it was available through every carrier.

The other carriers turned it down. Only Cingular would play ball with MacIntosh.

Yeah, iPhone doesn't fit the other carriers goals very well, since many of them sell music, ringers and offer 3rd party service for watching TV, not to mention high speed Internet service.

I've got a Treo 600 that works pretty well. Drops some calls, but overall I couldn't live without it.

With the addition of a 2 gig SD card recently, it has now become my IPod as well. Sounds great!
