Awesome Interview With Brian Waters

810 is interviewing Waters. He just said, "I'm sick of us worrying about and taking pride in setting individual records and individual guys making everybody's fantasy football list. I think it's selfish. This team needs to win some playoff games and a Super Bowl."

(slightly paraphrased)

I love this guy.

I interpreted it as a shot across both TG's and LJ's bow. Basically, he was just saying "we need to be a team ... not a bunch of guys worried about individual records."

I think he wants to start winning some games. He sounds a tad frustrated.

I love Brian but he needs to direct his anger at Herm and Carl for putting together one of the worst teams in the NFL

He's right, but when you know you're headed nowhere you start looking out for #1.

Tony Gonzalez has drawn an awful lot during his career.
He'll probably never win a Superbowl and he's a future Hall of Famer.

To my ear, it sounded as if he's a little pissed at everybody, Mr. dirk digler. Particularly third and long situations - regardless of how they got there.

He didn't seem to think the team was headed nowhere, Mr. Micjones. I got the impression he just wants the offensive to get their sh*t together. Someone else may have a different take on the interview, but I loved it.

As far as I'm concerned, Waters can call out anyone he wants.

He should be pissed and I am glad that he is. He needs to tell his O-Line mates though to open up some holes for LJ so he can get more than 50 yds in a game.

Actually I meant the players he's likely calling out.

That's what I mean, Mr. Micjones. Brian thinks they can make something out of this season "if" the individual players stop worrying about their own stats and pull together. He was pretty blunt about it.

I suppose you can't fault Tony for wanting the ball, and I don't think Brian's worried about that, per se. Basically, he was saying that, for years, the Chiefs "organization" has settled for taking pride in individual records, stats, etc. and he's sick of it. He wants to win.

LJ has been looking out for #1 since long before this team looked like it was headed for nowhere. LJ certainly isn't going to be racking up any big numbers with the current personnel, play calling, and administration.

I love TG, but I can't see him being a victim here either. He chose to re-up with this organization rather than biding his time and going to a contender. He'll get plenty of chances at his records, especially with DH at QB.

A lot of the time, I do think TG and LJ are prima donna-ish, but this isn't one of those time. I think a lot of the offense is just frustrated in general.

I know the old adage "there's no I in team", but if those two players got the ball more often we'd have a better chance at winning.

I think Johnson and Gonzalez both want to win though.
I don't think there's any doubt about it.

The more I cogitate on this, I think this was more about the organization than it was about LJ or Tony.

After every game, kcchiefs.com publishes a summary talking about how this player or that player continued a streak or set a team record or opened a restaurant, and so forth. He's saying that's what the "Chiefs" have taken pride in. He's ready to move on to winning some playoff games instead of worrying about stats and individual records.

I'm glad Waters is angry. He can begin to vent his anger by opening up some holes on the line so LJ can get better fantasy stats.
