Backbreaker: Football game that will compete with EA

I've been following the progress on this game for at least a year now and it's finally coming out. It looks very promising and I think it will compete with the evil madden despite the ridiculous NFL license.

This will be a football game unlike any you have ever seen. I'm extremely excited for this, it's going to have franchise, online and other features. The game engine looks very smooth and I really do have high hopes for this one. Everybody is going to say it will fail because of the NFL license, but if you are a fan of playing football games, than the NFL license won't be that important. I just hope that the online play is as good as 2Ks and they have a system in place to make it a good experience.

The way you pass in this game is the best passing system to date. Problem is, the camera angle makes it really hard to see anything.

Big kudos to them for doing a innovated passing system. Its pretty damned good. The camera angle is what makes it tough.

I love the running controls as well.

It only has to sell enough so they can make another game.

They have a small dev team, so i am going to assume just a few hundred thousand copies needs to be sold.

after a couple of weeks or maybe a month this game will have all of the NFL teams. Or at least pretty close. Some people will spend the time to customize them and you can easily download them and transfer to your HD. There are some issues with the gameplay after a few runs with the demo. But this game is going to have a learning curve and it's not what anybody is used to. It's very innovative and I like that. I imagine once you start to get good at this game, it's going to be much more fun.

there are some issues and exploits though and this is a new company to me, so I can't tell you how quickly they will patch problems or fix them. But this definitely a buy for me. I don't care about NFL teams, I just want a fun football game to compete against other people with. Last year was the last straw with Madden for me, I bought all of the hype and the bought ratings and it was still the same crap football game.

Thats cool if they can get user generated teams so people can make NFL teams..

Personally I think they should dump the humans and get some mutants and monsters instead..

Give me mutant league football damnit.. and hockey while we are at it..

Can you describe the passing system?

I don't know why these developers don't put in a variable camera control system. It's not hard to do, they had it on Madden on the PC a decade ago. Custom camera angles FTW.

you pass with the right stick, you press back and up at various speeds for bullet and lob passes. You also have to change recievers like Tecmo bowl. IT wouldnt be so bad if the camera angles were different.

There's a video on youtube about the passing system. Its a progression system where you go from receiver to receiver one at a time and use the right analog to throw to them as far as I can see.

In fairness even if you hate Madden the game last year was a vast improvement over the last several.

This game seems ok but I don't really get the passing with the stick stuff, it's a football game it doesn't need to be super complicated.

That is why I don't buy sports games anymore.
