Backbreaker: Football game that will compete with EA

I've been following the progress on this game for at least a year now and it's finally coming out. It looks very promising and I think it will compete with the evil madden despite the ridiculous NFL license.

This will be a football game unlike any you have ever seen. I'm extremely excited for this, it's going to have franchise, online and other features. The game engine looks very smooth and I really do have high hopes for this one. Everybody is going to say it will fail because of the NFL license, but if you are a fan of playing football games, than the NFL license won't be that important. I just hope that the online play is as good as 2Ks and they have a system in place to make it a good experience.

Sorry, that's ****ing reeruned.

Why do developers insist on trying to reinvent the wheel? The Madden passing system is perfect.

You don't go after Madden by doing the same things they do.

Don't ever try to run a business dude.

No, you take what they did right, put it in your game, and fix the shit they have never fixed.

It's not rocket science. Different =/ better

That passing system sounds horrible.

To gamers...every new thing sounds horrible until they try it out.

Maybe it is good or maybe it isn't but you have to take bold steps if you want to try and get ahead in a market like that. If you sit around and only listen to customers or in this case gaming reeruns you get feature creep and other unimaginative stuff that ultimately leaves them underwhelmed.

I love the engine but I do agree with the passing camera angles horrible I also think the running is somewhat easy-ish but it's still a very fun game on defense

What do you think a real QB sees in a real game? Learn to play you nubcakes and quit complaining about the low angle.

I've been done with sports games since 2006. It's ridiculous that they release a new game once a year with slightly updated features, and new rosters. What gets me is they will release a new feature, and you think "hey, this is kind of cool" - and then they just take it out in the next years version.

The dev's had a vision and that is to make you feel like YOU are the player. They wanted you to think that you are on the field as the QB or HB or whatever postion on defense. That kind of explains their choice of camera angle. I'm still not used to it, but I need to keep playing before I reach any sort of verdict. It seems that exploits are abundant, will that change with increased competition? Or online vs a human? I have no idea.

Yes, 2K is great and it's a fucking shame that they aren't allowed to make an NFL or college football game, fucking corrupt BS if you ask me

Real quarterbacks don't have to flick through targets by pushing a button before they can throw.

They make the connection in their mind almost instantly by reading the coverage.

Their idea of a passing system doesn't translate very well into twitch gameplay. It sounds awfully clunky, and what about throwing on the run? I only have two hands.

Stupid ****ing idea.

The only way I could tolerate this is if the game froze while you flicked through targets. There was an old football game on PC a long time ago that did this, it was pretty innovative for it's time.

So glad to hear American Needle won their case against the NFL.

I Never ever thought that would happen. Hopefully this is the end of exclusives.

Just played the demo....

And that was probably the worst football game I've played. I've had every madden since 01, 2k for 2002 to 2005, I've even had Blitz, and even the one xbox football game with manning on the cover. That's more than 15 football games I've had and none has been as bad as this game here. Game developers needto realize that 1st person will NEVER work in a football game. The passing system is ****ing awful. You're never aware of your surroundings because of the shitty 1st person mode and the terrible camera angles.

I think people bash Madden just to bash it. So far, it's the realest football game that's been out. 2k5 was great, but madden 2005 was just as good.
