Video Games Backbreaker: Football game that will compete with EA - Page 4

I've been following the progress on this game for at least a year now and it's finally coming out. It looks very promising and I think it will compete with the evil madden despite the ridiculous NFL license.

This will be a football game unlike any you have ever seen. I'm extremely excited for this, it's going to have franchise, online and other features. The game engine looks very smooth and I really do have high hopes for this one. Everybody is going to say it will fail because of the NFL license, but if you are a fan of playing football games, than the NFL license won't be that important. I just hope that the online play is as good as 2Ks and they have a system in place to make it a good experience.

A real qb also has peripheral vision. In this game you can't see who's coming from the sides of you unless you turn all the way around.

I disagree 1000000%

Madden is trash, their engine needs a complete overhaul. The same problems from 5 years ago still exist. NFL 2K5 is far superior to Madden 2010 in every single way as far as gameplay goes.. The license is a disgrace to the NFL, to gamers and to the US Constitution. It's a damn shame.

Actually, as I recall NFL2K5 had issues of its own. It was a great game, but it was far from perfect.

I would agree that the passing system sounds goofy. But this vid looks pretty damn cool.

Their idea of a passing system doesn't translate very well into twitch gameplay. It sounds awfully clunky, and what about throwing on the run? I only have two hands.

The only way I could tolerate this is if the game froze while you flicked through targets. There was an old football game on PC a long time ago that did this, it was pretty innovative for it's time.

Mike Ditka's Ultimate Football did something like that, IIRC.

I think that was it. I used to sit and play that 2-player with my friend on a keyboard in front of a 17-inch CRT. lol

I never said it was perfect, I said it's better than Madden 2010. It's a shame that I'm not allowed to enjoy an NFL game anymore.

Told ya it wasnt. Some things are nice, but overall, its a no go. Looks like there is a few things to work with there, but its not going to be that game that replaces the 2K series. Maybe Its better then Madden, its not like thats hard to do, but for me right now, i am not going to purchase.

No, it wasn't better. I think people hate Madden so much that they believe any other football game is better. 2k was a great series, but it had a lot of flaws just like madden did. Want to score a touchdown? Just throw a screen pass, run up the sidelines and side juke when you're about to get tackled. It worked on every difficulty.

When does the exclusive license expire? 2012?

Yeah, that part of the game is pretty fun. The tackles on that game are pretty ****ing nice and realistic.

wouldnt work on me if you were playing me. I am great at stopping the screen passes on NFL2K series. I was pretty damned good and known for being pretty good among all the great sim players of the game. Even with the shitty ass 2005 Chiefs defense i was pretty good.

It did have issues, it wasnt perfect but as a total package NFL2K5 hasnt even been touched in terms of a complete football game. Not close.
