Just pre-ordered a tech 21 bass fly rig. Anyone have any experience with it (or the sansamp, I suppose)? I know it's new, but I thought I'd see what people have heard.

I like them. I can get the mix I want and adjust the volume to suit me.

And as I get older they are a lot easier to carry than floor monitors too.....

We got a couple of the Galaxy AS-900 systems, one K8 and the other K1 (in the 600mhz frequency). Tried them out the other night and it was great. I could finally hear my backup vocals as well as some of the fine things that you don't usually hear real well with the instruments. The K8 seemed to work well but the K1 I bought on ebay was cutting out a lot. I contacted the company and he said the K1 should work in my area so he thinks maybe there's something wrong with the unit. So I'm trying to get the seller to take it back and I am ordering one of the newer models on the N frequency bands (500mhz). Galaxy Audio is based in Wichita so he is giving me a local discount. I know some people will recommend other brands such as Shure but we were just looking for an entry level system that works okay and is not too expensive. These fit the bill.

Mind if I ask what brand/model is your system? It sounds to me as if your mix was not right. Or perhaps your ear piece/buds is the weakness?

No, I wasn't using in-ear monitors last time (as I don't like them). I was using my Fender 500 as a personal monitor (it then feeds into the board). We didn't really have time to mix, so our mix was VERY off. For the second half, I turned up quite a bit and things were better (outside of my nubs for fingers).

I can't stand them... I used them in the Church praise band for a while. At first I thought they were kind of nice, could do my own mix on the fly and could hear everything, but after a while I noticed it really affected my performance. I was playing to what was in my ears and not what was in the room, I didn't get the feedback from the audience that is necessary for a good performance and that is after all what makes it worthwhile...

Yeah, we discussed those issues. Supposedly, everyone is going to these. As for the audience issues, we're talking about putting out a mic just to pick up the audience.
