Anyone know where I can get cheap ram?

My brother's computer desperately needs more Ram.

He has 128 right now. Here's the type of Ram he needs:

256MB Kit with two 128MB 184pin Rambus RIMM ECC PC800 400Mhz with SPD 16 bit 2.5 volts 3.2GB/s 45ns 1.375 inches tall.

I searched but didn't come up with much - anyone know of any sites I can find this cheap?

I have no idea what the difference is in Rambus, but I can thank Dell for the awkward Ram style.

Yes, they are parity.

And yes, you can thank the guys at Dell (and other discount PC makers) for cutting corners and using stuff like RAMBUS and the Intel Celeron...

Don't even get me started on the Intel 813 motherboard...

I beg to differ...RAMBUS was promising, and Intel made the choice to go with them. It offered superior perfomance over PC133, but not DDR, which was not widely available yet.

RAMBUS would have been more competitive if the company who created it didn't charge outrageous royalties. It wasn't "cutting corners". RAMBUS was actually more expensive.

As far as the Celeron, thats not cutting corners. Thats just offering a lesser product at a budget price.

Sounds like they cut corners so they could pass the savings on to their customers....am I missing something? If you want to spend less on computer stuff, you get what you pay for.

Under the same logic, they put 4 Cylinder engines in vehicles to "cut corners".
