What are some ways to entertain a small child?
Ok CP, so next week I am meeting my girlfriend's 5 year old daughter for the first time. It's very important to me that we get along because I reaaaaally like my girlfriend, but this would obviously be a dealbreaker if I don't get along with her kid. Aside from "turn around and run immediately", I'm looking for any kind of advice to hit it off with the kid. Dad is out of the picture and grandpa is dead so she's never had any sort of male figure in her life.

My girlfriend says to "just be yourself" but I dunno WTF that means. I'm never around any kids so I don't know what they find funny or entertaining. Should I bring gifts? Do kids still like the "pull a quarter out of the ear" trick? I loved that when I was a kid but is there anything else? Has the game been upped since that trick came along? Any funny jokes kids that age like?

Make sure you find out her favorite princess, get the movie and ask her to watch it with you. It's pretty simple. Make popcorn or ice cream. Just make sure to include her in all decisions.
