A Trend I Have Noticed With Fumbles...
I have never really heard anybody talk about this, so if this has already been discussed here I apologize...

But, I have noticed a new trend developing across the league with fumbles. It's a brand new way to fumble. It's called the "oh shit, that hurts really bad, **** this shit, I don't even want this ball anymore" fumble. It happened with Charles today. Charles got bent up and impulsively gave up the ball as he was about to be (possibly) injured.

McCluster did it last year in New Orleans (or was that two years ago?). And I have been noticing it happening more and more across the league. Anybody else? If not, keep an out, because it's a thing.

I didn't think Charles gave up that ball. He couldn't get a second arm wrapped around it and it was ripped away.

Nope, he put that thing on the floor. There was no strip.

I don't blame him, either. Charles is going to be very conscious of his knees due to the ACL injury. He felt himself getting twisted up and immediately went into protection mode. He put the ball on the floor and used his hand to keep himself somewhat upright.

Considering what he has gone through and I damn guarantee you he felt the awkwardness of his leg and panicked and said the same thing. Considering he is about our only offense to this point he can afford to IMO.

I think most people care about serious injury than holding on to the football. As bad as Charles' fumble was, I don't blame him a bit for reacting to his knee being bent a way it's not meant to be bent.

Yeah I'm having a hard time blaming JC for fumbling on that play. Someone mentioned it in the game thread, but I'm just happy that JC's leg is still in one piece.

It definitely looked like he had it clasped, but I was watching online and didn't want to go over the replay like the Zapruder at that point, so I just watched the replays the broadcast provided live.
