Don't believe there's a dedicated thread, and since they're starting to release information now, I figure it's time for one.

I have a feeling I'm not going to like Sith Warrior as much. I don't generally enjoy melee characters and that's the one class that can't be anything else.

I didn't do any tanking or healing so far, either, purely dps (although I did toss out heals as required on both my merc and my sorceror).

But yeah, for me to spend the amount of time ingame that I did each weekend (@16 hours/day) I had to really like what I was doing...

I have to agree with how much fun the game was. I hav never subscribed to the WoW killer hysteria that each new game generates. and while i think WoW will continue on for sure, I predict this game taking a big fat chunk of the player base of all mmo's.

I'm pretty sure that's why Blizzard is offering Diablo 3 free to anyone who buys a year subscription to WoW. They're trying to entice players to lock in the subscription for the entire year in case those same players decide to go play SWTOR.

To simulate a launch environment, testers who have accepted new invites to weekend testing will gain testing access in staggered intervals based on when their invites were accepted. The first group of testers will be able to log on beginning on Friday morning (11/25) at 10:00AM CST (16:00 London, 17:00 Paris/Berlin). Then, Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 AM CST (16:00 London, 17:00 Paris/Berlin) the second and final waves of testers will gain access. Please watch your email for details about when your phase of testing begins. This will come in a separate email from your invite.

To our existing testers: at 10:00AM CST on Friday 11/25, you will notice several new servers appear in server selection for the weekend test to accommodate all our weekend testers. You are welcome to create characters on these new servers, but please note that they will only be available for the duration of the weekend test, which ends on 11/27 at 11:59PM CST (11/28 5:59 London, 6:59 Paris/Berlin).

Heh. I just got my invite at midnight.

Fortunately for me I knew it was available 24 hours ago, RSVP'd and installed the game while I was sleeping last night.

We'll see if I'm actually in on Friday. I would assume I will be.

I'm actually excited as this will be my first opportunity to play with friends.

Yea that is odd, I got confirmed to test the game again 11-21-11 at around 1:30am. So I confirmed at that time, waited till I was about to go to work and then started the download process.

Then last night around 11:52pm I get an email stating I need to confirm I want to be in the test. I click on the respond now and I was already confirmed from before.

I wonder if they are letting in all the previous testers on Friday at 10am and then slowly letting the newer people join from there. That would simulate an actual launch with people giving word of mouth "holy crap get this game" advice to all their friends and then friends getting the game.

Just got my latest Game Informer and saw the Sith Empire preview...I managed to avoid the whole WoW addiction, but I don't know if I can let this one go by without a look...

Well, I can't even login to the website right now... traffic must be higher than anticipated. Frustrating, because I got invited to a test and am trying to start my download of the client.

Am I the only one that doesn't want to play this until it's out and I can keep the character?

Yes. You are the only one.

Seriously, though, I can totally understand that. Especially if you have any of the other eleventy billion hot games that came out this month to tide you over (CoD:MW3, BF3, Skyrim, Batman, Zelda, etc). I don't, so I'm chomping at the bit to play SWTOR in any capacity.

Yeah, the official is site is getting hammered. I wouldn't worry too much, though. The launcher install that you download from their site is only about 30MB (if I remember correctly). That installs the launcher, which is what actually downloads the game. Since the launcher is its own process, you won't have to worry about the site being up in order to download the game.

If you have a decent internet connection, you should be able to download the entire 30GB client in plenty of time. I started the launcher last night around 7pm and it was finished when I checked on it this morning at around 7am (running about 1.1mbps on average).
