Prayers for my father
I am very concerned about my father who is 86. He has been in generally good health up until the spring when he lost 30 pounds. This past week he has lost another 20 and the doctors have no answer yet.

He has led a good life having been married over 50 years, worked for Rockwell nearly 30 years and is a WWII vet. I just got back from DC and am glad he was able to take a trip to the memorial a few years ago.

Sometimes I wish the world would just end really quick. It sounds demented, I know, but I hate the thought of growing old and having to watch my grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, and god forbid my younger brother, die of old age or disease or an accident of some kind. It sucks and it's a part of life. Sometimes I just think a giant bomb going off and taking us all out at once - without expecting it - would be easier.

I understand completely. We had an experience of seeing my great aunt on the last day in her life. As we were leaving she tried to take out all of her tubes. I don't understand those who want those who live in pain or can have no quality of life to be forced to go on living. I don't think my father is in pain except when he is trying to eat right now.

I agree. People in agonizing pain that are going to die soon anyway should have the option to die quick and peacefully. It's their life and they're the ones suffering. Keeping someone alive longer when they are dying and in extreme agony is basically torture in my eyes.

A follow up. My father is feeling much better, seemed a bit more into the conversation and no longer has issues swallowing food. Hopefully he's passed the issues. Thank you everyone for the support.
