Brandon Flowers belongs in Tier 1. But I'd put Houston there too. Dez Bryant was just a huge mismatch. Literally.

I have no issue with Houston and agree he's a great player. But, 10+ sacks doesn't make him elite. 16+ Sacks is an elite mark these days. It hilarious that Hali is considered Tier 2, but Houston is Tier one.

Houston has more potential than Hali, sure, but he doesn't have near the resume.

Full. Blown. Homerism.

You don't know what you're talking about if you don't think Justin Houston is elite.

When he has been able to consistently attack, he has consistently taken over games. The players ranked him in the top 50, as well.

Justin Houston is a better football player than you are giving him credit for.

We've seen Eddie Kennison get the best of Champ Bailey. I don't think anyone in their right mind would rate them even remotely close.

Hali is not the better player. At one time Hali was the better pass rusher. That time is gone.
Hali is not good in coverage and does not have the strength Houston does.

And Houston probably won't see that many sacks because he's also valuable in coverage.

I don't care about the last 5 years we're talking about now. As of this season Houston is the better player.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Tamba Halis job over the last few years has been to rush the passer almost exclusively. Justin Houstons job has mostly been dropping into coverage and playing the run.

Just look up the advanced stats of how many times he has been able to rush the passer since he has been drafted.

IIIRC, Justin Houston dropped into coverage more than any other OLB in a 3-4 last season and thus far this year is on pace to break the single season sack record in a defense that is predicated on more pressure.

I feel like asking Houston on twitter if he's going to train with Hali and Gracie this offseason

The right tackle for NO (Zach Strief) is one of the best in the league and Houston flat out dominated him in every possible way. Go listen to his post game remarks to hear how good he is first hand.

I wouldn't trade Houston for any LOLB in the league right now.

If Von was trouble free, he would be the only one.

Me either, I'd extend his contract ASAP

Trying to remember if Aldon Smith or Clay Matthews is a LOLB. Both are better.

Albert is near elite, if you cant tell by the massive drop off between him and the other four Chiefs lineman.

You guys are preaching to the Choir here. I've been saying that since last offseason.

But we're talking about ELITE. Houston is a very good, ascending player. But Elite? He hasn't done enough to be called elite yet. If Bowe or Flowers aren't elite, then neither is Houston.

Houston needs to do something at an elite level to be elite. He wasn't even elite last season, just very good.

That doesn't mean much to me. How well did he do against Doug Free? See what i mean? Who he played that day means very little to me.

Im not arguing if the guy is good or not. That's not the question. Is he Elite? There isn't any statistical evidence to prove that. He's not elite yet.
