The combo of Carl and Vermeil wrecked this franchise. Had the former left after '05, he'd still be regarded as the POS that he is. Had he left after Gunther, his legacy would be far more positive.

yep. Carl's run was over right about then, but he thought he could mortgage the future of the team without neg effects. he was very very wrong about that.

The Vermeil years was all go for broke. It didn't work and Herm took the bullet for it by going young.
Where we really ****ed up was the Pioli regime. |

Carl overstayed his welcome for sure but he also is the man responsible for 80% of our current pro-bowlers.
I thought my hate for Carl was a strong as it could be, then shitstain and Kasl rolled into town and took us all to another level. If anything Fat Scott made me appreciate what Carl did in his tenure even more. |

Nope. There was a dead cat bounce and then on down we went. This place was ****ing ELATED when Carl was ousted. But we had no mother****ing clue how bad it could be. And it was bad. Herm was fail. King Carl had ****ed up all kind of player acquisitions, and ****her twice? Really? But it was miles better than this year's shitstorm. Pioli put forth a MONUMENTAL effort to make it that shitty. |

Carl was a failure because he never addressed the QB position other than signing retreads from other teams. Pioli never addressed any position on the team period. Signed dumb**** players in FA and drafted for shit.
Atleast Carl and his coaches drafted well to an extent. |

****ing dumb. He drafted Mike Elkins in his first year in the second round. He drafted Matt Blundin in the second round. He drafted Stanford QB Steve Stenstrom in the 4th round, only to have him snaked by the Bears. He drafted Croyle in the third. Meanwhile, he brought in Dave Kreig, Joe Montana, Steve Bono, Elvis Grbac, Rich Gannon and Trent Green. Drafting a QB was an inexact science from 1920 - 2010. There weren't 10 million draft "Guru's" or "film" on every kid going back to 5th grade. It was a different world. Peterson completely transformed a disenchanted fan base and made the Chiefs experience what it is today. Without him, they'd be gone from KC. |

From 1987 Hudson to 2007 Croyle that actually started a game. I would say that's signing retreads from other teams.
You're also leaving out Deberg, Huard and Thigpen. Last edited by MeatRock; 01-11-2013 at 09:47 PM.. |

Elkins, Blundin and Stenstrom never started a ****ing game for KC. Never were allowed to develop under Peterson. Why? Because Carl loved him some veteran QB's.
